My 2011 Mustang Wrecked in 7 car pile-up
I spoke to the insurance claims adjuster and he said they are going ahead and fixing the car. It is going to be about $17,000 for everything (price corrected for new headlights and new rear bumper since no used are available). I've got to run by a couple of dealerships and ask what they would offer me to buy my mustang after it is fixed and compare that to trade-in value to get a start on the diminished value claim that I'll have to file after everything is fixed. I'm also going to try to get a prorated refund on my extended warranty I purchased 5yr/100,000mi for $2200...I know I will never purchase one again. But I should be able to get about $1800 back using calculations I found online (11 months old and 13,590 miles now). Wish me luck.
Good luck! I would try to find other things that are needing to be replaced also to try and get it to the percentage of being totaled. From personal experience the car will never be the same.
Update: The body shop got the stang up on the rack and saw some bends in some of the rails and suspension pieces as well as some more lines that have to be replaced bringing the total to about $20,000 to fix. Just waiting on hearing from the insurance agent now for the official judgement.
Good luck buddy. $20,000 is pretty darn close to the percentage you'd need to get it totaled. I know it's not a new car, but I was in the same boat with my 2000 a couple years ago. Was t-boned on the passenger strut tower, but I was still moving so the Jeep that hit me scraped up the whole right side of the car (including denting the unibody). Total for repairs was $4700, just to reprint the right side of the car, but the car had 100k miles on it. It was only worth about $7k. They wouldn't total it. Now I have 1/4 new paint and 3/4 11 year old faded paint and it's never been the same. Gotta love insurance companies...
Final Update: They decided to total the car today. I was able to remove my AIRAID CAI and return it to stock (unlocked my tuner), HID for fogs, borla x-pipe, and one borla s-type muffler...the other was crushed. I guess I will save them and hope that they will fit the 2013 mustang...hoping that they bring back a gray color (sterling, metallic, etc). Thanks for all of the help and kind words.

Glad to hear that man. If you're anything like me, you'd never have been able to live with it being repaired.
Awesome! Hey just wondering, which muffler was saved? I've been looking under my Escape and I think the right side axle backs for the S197 would be a pretty close fit to replace my stock muffler...
