jmatero, I have been following your posts with great interest since I have a 2012 on order. Do we know for a fact that 2012 clutches are different from the 2011 clutches?

Ivan, what is your build date?

From JMatero:

CORRESPONDING SOLUTIONS:
1. Ford will install an updated pedal assembly that solves the problem.
2. No fix for 2011, but it should be noted that 2012 Mustangs have revised clutch assemblies.

I have trouble going into gears sometimes and it is a true grind at high rpm.

When i do have grinds at high rpm the clutch then feels very weak as if there isn't any pressure on the pedal anymore.

I am going to have to take the tech for a ride to show him since they said they couldn't replicate the issue.

Dan is your car out already? I'm still waiting a few weeks yet. I had very mild 1-2 difficulty but am now nervous about increased difficulty as time and miles pass.

Is this the case for most of you?

So is the whole clutch assembly thing fixed or not?

We have no idea if the 2012's are problematic yet. Not enough deliveries yet. The only insight into 2012's we have are the reviews of the BOSS in which more than 1 reviewer has stated the shifting is very notchy.

So uh, should I take my 2011 to the Ford dealer? Is there a TSB? My 2-3 shift often grinds HARD (esp in cold weather) and shifting in general is notchy, especially 0-1 and 1-2.

Right, but that doesn't tell me a whole lot. I mean we know the part number changed for 2012, but that doesn't necessarily mean there is any appreciable change to the way the 2012 is designed/manufactured.

I'm hopeful, but also skeptical. I wish someone would do a visual/physical comparison between the 2011 and 2012 clutches, or get some schematics or other official "word" to verify that the 2012 clutches are in fact "revised" in some meaningful way. A part number change could be for many reasons, not necessarily functional. Could be the same design simply with a different supplier, etc...

Mine is the same way. I had an appointment for Wednesday but I bailed out. I don't think they know the solution and according to ivan's claims now, his crap is even worse than before.

Ford sucks, sorry. I had a crappy 2006 mustang and now this one. Quality = crap. They rushed it too soon.

OK, another update - I picked up the car today from Ford. I just drove it for about 30-40 miles and so far, so good. Best it's ever driver actually.

"Roadtest for about 10 miles. Verify the customers concern. Run diag on the PCM. Codes PO300, PO301, and PO306 were present in memory. Run oasis report and found SSM 21463 that applies to the concern. Relearn the crankshaft position sensor profile. Clearcodes and rest KAM. Roadtest for another 10 miles. The car runs just as it should at this time."

Basically, the tech was like - oh, we didn't know we had to relearn the crankshaft position sensor after we put yours trans back on.

Keep us updated how it goes, especially the gear whine if it develops.

So is there a tsb? If I take my gt in can they fix it like yours?

There is gear whine - but nothing too loud. Car is running better than new so far.

I hope u guys get everything figured out although I don't think they have a clue of what they are doing. I'm not quite sure how the noise you complained about would be related to having to reset the cps. Another tip too, is I had very very notchy notch shifting in my car as well. I never had a clutch pedal issue or a grinding at all. I thought it felt more like a mechanical problem with the clunky shifter mechanics. I put the Barton shifter in, n never had one seconds trouble after it. I was having clunky 1-2s, n hard to find 2-3's, but the shifter combined with there bracket thing totally eliminated it. Keep us updated on the progress n ur findings. Thanks.

Bit the bullet and took my car in to the dealer today with two complaints. Sluggish shifting at ambient temps below 32°F, and intermittent shift problems no matter what the ambient temp is, including rubbery resistance going into gear, slight grinding going into gear, or unable to go into gear at all even with double clutch.

I'll echo Ducky's concern: what about the damage from thousands of miles of grinding???

Deysha, I PM'd you my info. Thanks for your help. I don't think my dealer has seen many 2011's besides mine.
