Montreal Ponies get his 5.0

opportunity for big savings on the GT and GT500 models.
-were there many import issues?
As with anything that involves the government, there is a whole series of steps that have to be followed, but in this case the savings are worth the time. There is a lot to learn, but having done that, it can be very much worth your while. In the case of Ford products, the only change that needs to be done to the car is to enable the DRL's. The thing is that the procedure isn't properly documented, and a number of dealers haven't been able to figure out how to do it. In my case, I had to get a DRL module installed instead.

-even with exchange (.9657 as of today) does it work out cheaper?
Montreal Ponies converted his $$ when the dollar was at par weeks ago, but even with today's rate there can be big savings.
-guessing the speedo big numbers are in miles....?
Yep. But because km are shown in little numbers, the speedo doesn't need to be replaced.

There is no special tax or levy. You need to pay GST/PST, the 200$ import fee, and the 100$ A/C tax.
The specific costs associated with importing a new car are:
-Exchange rate costs/fees
-Travel to/from the dealership
-the RIV fee
-possible costs to bring the car to spec (can vary from 0$ to thousands)
-loss of access to incentives and rebates

What about Daytime Running lights with the HIDs? I haven't had a chance to peruse the shop manual yet, but the HIDs ordered in Canada have DRLs but the US Order guide says that DRLs aren't available with HIDs.
Anyone know if it's just a programming "switch on"? Personally, if it came down to it I'd install a DRL mod on the fogs...

Cool, I'm considering it as an option if a dealer can get allocation when I'm ready to order. Too bad Ford Credit in the US won't play ball, I'd have to see what kind of rates they're offering at the bank. FMC in Canada has 0% right now.

Very nice, the glass roof really is awesome! Wasn't really a fan of Sterling but in fact it looks mature and shows off the lines very well while matching nicely with the lower plastic...great choice!
I also appreciate the info regarding importing into Canada, intertesting stuff. Even with the dollars close to par, the difference in the list price of the car from USA to CAN is significant.

When you're ready you should check with Karpro (Paul) at Van Bortel, they do seem to be selling quite a few Mustangs, so they may have a decently large allocation.
