Looking for the best Camshafts + Headers combo, I'm looking for 40hp at wheels.

So far i like what the ford racing cams offer for my 2010 gt. Also i'm looking at a good set of shorty headers.. I would consider Kooks long tube headers but i'm concerned about the heat they bring especially during spirited driving in the summer time heat..Do you think i can get 40 more at the wheels? here are the links:

Aggressive Sound. Give your 4.6 3-valve Mustang an aggressive lopey idle reminiscent of the classic muscle cars of the 60's with a set of Ford Racing Hot Rod Cams. No other cam manufacturer can offer the same aggressive sound and durability of these cams, in fact no one will believe it's a modular engine.

Safe Upgrade. These Hot Rod Performance Camshafts were engineered by the same Ford designers of the stock cams to provide the most powerful cams available that are safe with the stock production valve train of your 2005-2010 GT. The Hot Rod Performance Cams are compatible with production springs, followers, and lash adjusters up to 6800rpm.

More horsepower and torque. Improve the horsepower and torque of your GT pony with a set of Ford Racing Performance Shorty Headers. These Shorty headers will uncork your stock exhaust allowing for better airflow to increase your pony's horsepower and torque.

Improves Exhaust Flow. Ford actually did a good job on the 05-10 Catalytic Converters, but the pipes could actually use some improvement. That's where the Pypes Cut and Clamp X-Pipe come into play. Designed to balance out the exhaust gas pressure in your system, the Cut and Clamp X-pipe reuses the stock Cats saving you money.

I've been investigating a combo such as this myself.

Firstly from what I understand is that Shorties will offer very little performance- maybe 5-8hp. It's more for an aggressive sound and improved look. Long tubes is the only way to up the HP. As far as heat is concerned you may want to look into the Ceramic style...?

Aand with the cams- Try to email the guys over at BrenSpeed.com and one of them will surely point you in the right direction. I've been emailing them myself concerning their cams and longtubes recently.

There was a test in MM&FF not long ago on long tubes and the best overall power was from the Kooks headers, right behind them for less than 1/3 the cost was MAC long tubes.

Shorties as said, are not worth the effort.

Also, like was said, check with Brenspeed on the cams, they do their own custom grinds for less than the cost of the Ford cams.

Ugh. I never want to deal with the "have them tightened every couple of months" headache that are aftermarket headers, no matter how much hp they add. I only did it because one of my factory manifolds cracked, and I can't just replace one. I'm OCD like that. I have JBA shorties on my V6 and on my butt-dyno, I didn't feel any difference, but they definitely make the exhaust deeper and "growlier".

Agreed.. Longtubes are the way to go. I have them on my daily driven 03 along with cams, and let me tell you it gets hot as ***** here in the summer and it's still fine. I do notice that it is hotter inside the car since the LT's but it's not unbearable or anything

You'll definitely get 40 hp. To get the full potential power get a CAI and a tune as well.
