Leaking Rear End?

I was under the car adjusting the Roush Axle Backs and noticed oil on the left side of the axle, then looked a little more and noticed the rear end looks like this.

I've always had a clunky rear end, and it's always whined in the rear from 60-80 MPH, but two dealerships I went to said, "The Roush AB are already loud, and if we go into the rear end it could end up being worse" Got Deysha involved, and still Ford said the same thing. That these cars are not quiet, and that the rear end is close to the rear seat and it is expected.

Well, now it looks like the rear end has a leak. Any suggestions?

Quite a few have had that situation, coming from the vent.

I think at some point they revised the vent, you might want to inquire at the dealer...

My 13 GT vert had a leak from the vent. I had a custom shop do a fix which allows the vent to breathe but has the breather valve mounted higher on the differential - using an extension tube.

Agree with above could be the breather/pressure release valve. I put in a catch can there just incase

Bring it back in, dkmcclelland. Let me know the outcome so I can escalate it if needed.

There's a TSB out on leaking rearends that have to do with the vent as the source, but I thought it had to do with earlier models, or those that were tracked, such as the Bosses. The fix had to do with vent that looks like a turkey baster.

Here's a link to the thread that mentions the TSB and the vent tube "turkey baster" Ford came out with:

Thanks, they fixed it under warranty with the TSB. I drove in the mountains, but no where near what it would be driven at on the track. Fixed now though, and I've decided to sell it
