Launching RPM What gives the best

For all of you that have raced at the Drag Races. What did you find worked best for a launch RPM.
Also what do you have:

Automatic
Manual
Rear Gear
Tires
Air Pressure

Times:
60'
1/8 Mile
1/4 Mile

I have not taken my new 2014 GT track car to the Drags yet. Going this week and next.

You should likely find an empty road or something or drive to Mexico and play a little bit and get a feel for what you and your cars capable of.

I haven't taken my car to any tracks as of yet but, I did 2k, 4k, 6k launches.
2k seemed to break loose the least amount and got me going the quickest.

the Drag Races.

According to Motor Trend, it launches best at 1700-1800 RPM

For my V6 manual, 2K launches at the track just cause my stock tires to spin. I heard that for stock tires is to let the clutch slip some as you launch so not all the power is going to the tires and then release the clutch. Once you have good tires though, I would think 2k launches would be best.

depends entirely upon the conditions and your equipment. Might go from 1500 one day to 2500 another depending on the air/track temps, quality/age of your tires, etc. Just go and find out for yourself. Besides, the more you go it's assumed the better you'll become at launching the car, so your own ability will play a part in determining at what RPM you launch the car.

Sounds like the plan to use. Thankx.

I was at the track tonight and watching the street cars launch. Only after several hours of Big Tire Race cars did all the cars start launching at higher RPM.

Next week here I come.

Awesome! Keep us posted on how it goes, and how the curve of launching RPM worked out.
