Key without FOB

As I have posted before, I lost one of the original keys that came with my Mustang. I was originally quoted a cost of $200+ to replace it, but also got a quote of $105 for a key that will unlock the car and be programmed to start it but no remote capabilities....does that sound right or can it be done cheaper than that? I did order one of those Keyless entry pads which was $70. I know some would say, well why didn't you just get the second key since you are spending almost as much for the pad and the key without the remote but i got to thinking, if I am someplace (my workplace is almost 30 miles away) and locked my keys in the car, I would need someone to bring me the second key and this way I can still get in the car. My wife is disabled so she couldn't really bring it so would need to find someone else to do so. Any thoughts?

You have to have the two original keys to DIY. If not, you have to get the dealer / an automotive locksmith to do it.

With two keys, Ford lets you program your own if you order a blank and get it cut yourself. I just did that this weekend.

I knew more about the cars I buy than the salesman that are selling them to me. Most salesman don't know jack and I say "most" because there are some salesmen here. Lol

Me too - I knew about all the options and was surprised when my salesman was talking about the car and I ask how the active alarm works, and he told me mine didn't have it. I have the security package - I have an active alarm with motion sensing.

Don't expect too much from a sales person, unless they are an enthusiast, they know the basics.
