Can I just walk into any dealership and order one? I know, sounds like a n00bish question, but I have never ordered a car before. Especially before the model year even starts.

Probably but the salesman will most likely have no idea that he can order one so you'll have to bring an order guide with you (printed from here of course). That's what happened when i ordered my '08 in May '07

I'll be ordering them as soon as the bank opens. That can backfire sometimes. When the 05 came out, the ordered units took longer to get. I was told it was because the first produced cars are put in a lot and get buried in frontof other cars, so it takes longer to load. what I do know is I called and got updates constantly and all they could tell me was it was at Allied on the ramp and waiting for delivery. Man, That Got Old!

For me, I would only buy a '10 if it had the 5.0. It just seems as though you would be throwing your money away getting one with a 4.6 knowing darn well the 5.0 is coming in less than a year.

Call me stupid, but I'd wait

I can imagine those who are enamored by light weight going for a 2010 GT. The 2011GT is going to put on some weight overall (think ~50lb compared to the current model) due to the addition of the DOHC engine and the six speed tranny. This is all despite the fact that the car is undergoing a weight loss program in other respects. On the other hand, the 2010GT will likely be the lightest V8-powered S197 we'll ever see built since it too will benefit from said weight loss program, but doesn't get the heavier DOHC V8 and six speed manual tranny.

Personally I would rather wait for the 2011GT, but I can see why some would pull the trigger on the 2010. I think the harder sell is going to be the 2010 V6 model which the 2011 will trump enormously in every conceivable way......with the possible exception of price.
