"Disclaimer: This vehicle is parked for long periods of time at a local Nuclear Reactor and may have been exposed to higher than normal levels of radiation. Approach at own risk."

I dunno about everyone else, but I generally leave at least one spot between cars if I can help it.

When I went and picked up my car in PA. The wife and I stopped at a reast area. We parked away from everyone, hundreds of open spots and ofcourse some guy in a p/u truck has to pull in right next to us and walk his dog. No dings though

First drive back with 'Stang from the dealership, we stopped to this gas station in a small town out in the middle of nowhere . Parked so that i would have enough distance between my car and the other car for opening doors without having to worry about getting my door bangned at. First thing i know, come back out of store and there is this other car parked right next to mine with it's rear passenger door fully opened and almost coming in contact with side mirror. Lady was in the backseat changing her baby's diaper with door opended up. She missed the mirror by a freakin' inch. And the most scary part, she never noticed it. HOW DO I KNOW, well Chris told her it was a close call. She just said: oh, i'm so sorry. Yeah right. He was taking pics of the car at the same time. Can you believe that.

Doesnt this town employee start cutting the grass right in front of all the parked cars blowing wet grass all over everyones car. Could have killed the guy. Just what i wanted to do at 8pm is go home and wash my car i just washed yesterday.
People are just A**holes most of the time.

dan, i had that years ago.. someone at work gave it to me.. i made a bunch of copies and left them in my car..

like others i usually parked farther than normal away from everyone..

but when i came out there was usually 3-4 cars all around mine with like 20+ spaces closer to entrances.. ..

i ran out of those "fliers" real quick.. and stuck them to the windshield

Here's one theory. Someone has a nice car (A) and sees another nice car (B) by itself in a lot. Driver A thinks to himself, "Driver B has a nice car he cares about. I'll do him a favor and park next to him so no one else will open their door into his car, at least on the one side. Furthermore, Driver B won't carelessly open his door into mine."

Your car won't catch cooties from another car. It's only bad if they open their door into you. Having another conscientious driver parked next to you could be a service.

I've done this. I'd rather park next to a 'nice' car than a beater anyday.

It's just a process with a huge amount of variables. If you park all alone you can also draw attention, or one of those runaway shopping carts too. You know the ones blown by the wind with a full head of steam that nobody cares to stop.

As freakish as that was, I hadn't really considered if your heart had momentarily stopped beating or not. Good thing I know CPR.

See, this I can understand. On the flip side though, do people not know about the one-seat rule at the movie theater or urinal? Guys don't sit next to each other or take a leak next to each other unless absolutely necessary. Man-law! It should apply to the parking lot as well!

In all seriousness though, the parking horror tales do suck. Not everyone out there cares about their cars the way we do, and a whole heck of a lot of people out there certainly aren't as respectful. We just have to live with it and do whatever is reasonable to avoid "situations."

All that said... that mickey note is near priceless!

I remember coming out of a grocery store to see a great looking Vista Blue mustang parked next to my black one... and the other 3 cars that apparently decided to park next to us.

I'm actually interested in the psychology of it all. Do they want a good look at the car that walking past doesn't give them? Does parking next to our cars somehow make them think their car is safer because "they'll steal that first"? Are they touched in the head? I'd love to hear some actual reasons.

Love the Mickey sign, but I'd like a preventative one. Something like: "Warning! Biohazard Waste On Board. Stay Back without proper safety gear."
Honestly if I'm ever out and see a Mustang, that's what I will go park next to. I've come back out of the store to see probably 5 or 6 Mustangs parked next to each other.

Heheh "catch cooties". Yeah I know, but doors have a knack of "breaking free" from someone's control. And even if someone is being generous (Which, I admit, I hadn't considered someone being a "shield") and is being a Shield Car... their door could have other ideas and they could end up being the exact thing they're trying to help avoid.

Right next to them? I mean, I've parked next to Mustangs, Challengers, Corvettes and what have you, but I've always left a space between us if at all possible.

I don't park right up against them, but I usually park in the spot next to them. I have the mindset that they obviously don't want something happening to their car, and neither do I. Me parking next to them is going to ensure that nothing is going to be happening to the side of either of our cars thats facing each other.

I think it's pretty cool when I see a few Mustangs parked close to each other. Almost like it's an "exclusive Mustang parking area." I also follow the "philosophy" of parking next to "newer" or "expensive" cars because I feel that they would be more careful with how they get in and out of their car with respect to the car next to them. But if the spaces are tight to the point where I can't open my door almost fully open, I give a space or more.

LOL, I was just telling my co-worker the same thing, about repaving projects immediately after I get a new (to me) car. It's like they KNOW!

I always park way out away from everyone and I park at an angle taking two spaces. I know it's a sort of a-hole thing taking two spaces but it's way out away from everyone else and there are always other spaces for people to park closer to the door.

Even so, I went to home depot a while back and when I came out to my car there was a shopping cart wedged up under my side mirror on the drivers side and a scratch down the door where they has shoved the cart against it.

There are some people in the world that don't deserve to be let out in public, total waste of skin and flesh.

If I had caight the sorry bastard doing that to my car I would be in prison right now for MURDER!!!

lol...the same thing happened to me on Monday. I came out of the gym to find 2 Mustangs parked right next to mine when there were lots of other spaces. I wasn't mad. I actually found it funny and kind of cool at the same time. I also agree about the psychology of parking next other other nice vehicles. There's a nice truck at my work that I always park next to. I'm sure he doesn't mind seeing a nice Mustang always parked next to his truck since it's obvious I'm choosing him because I think he'll be careful just as I am.

Kind of like "friends with benefits"

I wouldn't mind other mustangs parking next to mine. I parked next to one at school last fall cause I knew I'd be ok, but they'd never park next to me, only some other odd car. Next semester they were in another lot.
