There is no flow of any air at all through the sound tube, into the interior OR into the motor from the interior, PERIOD.

The op was obviously uncertain about the whole thing. And to me it seemed that he pretty much gutted the sound tube. He asked if he could get any smell. I was not aware of the diaphragm so that settles that (who knows what kind of surgery the op did on it tho. Lol) but I will say that air definitely flows into the sound tube at least partially. The inside of my sound tube smelled like the oil fill cap. That's all i stated, and made a suggestion to the op based on that.

No need to get defensive over the sound tube, it's feelings have been hurt enough by everyone tearing it out! Lol. I really could care less how that useless piece of equipment works anyway lol

And for the record the Pcv does connect prior to the throttle body on the drivers side

the only foam i removed was the black one that connects to the cabin, i smelled the foam and it smelled like...foam...no gas, no nothing. i did not remove the other foam pieces inside the diaphragm thing...thanks for all the info though guys.

My bad. I was looking at the passanger side one. And just out of curiousity... how much oil do you get in the driverside catch can?

Not really too much. Honestly, if I didnt get both for $150, I would only get the passenger side.

Its because the line on the driver side sucks in not out you will get very little oil if any in it.so if that side is sucking into the motor then it really can't get any oil in the sound tube

it's still an open loop! In about 100 miles I got a decent coating on the bottom. Id assume a half inch for a full oil change interval
