2010-2014 Mustang Information on The S197 {GenII}

I don't think the next Mustang will be anything like what people hope it will be.

I guess you don't believe I get 22 city and 27 Hwy in my supercharged 00 GT!
Werd, I've averaged a combined 21-22 mpg with a best of 28 mpg (I've detailed my method elsewhere).

I believe you, my 01 GT gets 22 MPG in every day driving and I have done as much as 28.5 MPG on long trips.

Really, it's not that hard to get low 30 mpg highway out of a S197 v6. Before I got my exhaust, I hit a peak of 28.2 miles per gallon on the Interstate just doing my usual routine drive to work which is about 30 miles one way with several incline and declines in the road. Even when I was using my 06 S197 v6 as a daily driver I always averaged around 25 miles per gallon on mixed driving. Shoot, even my friend's Colbalt that he had to take out on a loaner (the economical 2.2L model) was barely struggling to keep 24 miles per gallon.

Ever since I had my exhaust installed, I have hit 35 miles per gallon highway on more than one occasion. I don't get that because I drive like an elderly person, I get that because I drive smart (not stupid). Trust me when I tell you people are always amazed at the miles per gallon I get in the '06 when they ask me.

As a matter of fact, this '06 Mustang is the most economical car (as far as gas is concerned) that I ever owned and I've owned 2 econo boxes thus far (Accent and Cavalier) so go figure, lol.

Mileage comes doiwn to whether or not the builder at the factory was sleeping or not-and how you drive. Take for example my 07 Freightliner Columbia-Series 60 Detroit Diesel pushing 34lbs of boost for 575hp, 2325ft-lbs torque, Fuller 10-spd and 3.55 rear drive axles-the tractor is a condo and has full wings on the sides. With a light load-20,000 pounds or less-I get 8.7mpg at 68mph. With a heavy load-more than 20,000-I still get 7.5mpg.

My 07 Convertible gets around 22-26mpg-just depends on how heavy my foot is-I drove a 05 Windveil V6 that would get 30mpg at 70mph-so my daily driver stang became a Redfire 05 V6 Coupe-27-30mpg

Wouldn't be II bad. (pun intended.)
I was pretty surprised to find out that the 2011 Mustang V6 convertible I have on order is only 34 pounds lighter than the AWD '07 Chrysler 300 it is replacing. And just about the same width, too. Now I would never want to see the Mustang taken down to compact class, but just a little bit of slimming down would be great.

Actually just to comment on people who were all doom and gloom. Turned out they were wrong and I'm pretty happy about it. But, the 5.0 is pretty cool.

What are you talking about?? The lightest awd 300 was 4034 lbs. The 300c was 200lbs heavier. The vert v6 is nowhere near that. Look here for proof:

That was posted last year when Ford was handing out "Est Weight 4000 lb" in their press release.

Nope. It was posted on August 12th 2010. A few days ago. I never seen a Ford spec sheet that had 4000lb by the way......

It's all over the place. I saw the 4,000 pounds number on more than one (Edmunds, MSN Autos, etc.) automotive Web site that allowed easy comparison of such numbers, so I assumed it was true. You're right though, it's way off.
