Hub Centering Rings, needed or not?
#21
From what I understand, the purpose of the grease/anti-seize compound is not for installing, but for removal. In other words, my intent with this rim set, is to remove them every "off season" (in Iowa speak, that's winter). So, I have read/heard that at times, the rings get bonded to the hub for whatever reason, be it rust, heat, dirt, etc... So the anti-seize/grease would just help get it off. Especially since I will be doing that 2x a year, (remove in winter, install in spring).
Anyone else on here with my same situation, or has used a type of grease/anti-seize compound?

Maybe if you were using aluminum versions, but probably not needed with plastic?? I could see having some corrosion with the dissimilar metal of the wheel hub.
Anyway I drive like 28K miles a year and rotate frequently so nothing ever really has a chance to seize up much.
Hopefully someone else can chime in....

But yes, the rings I have ordered and on the way are aluminum.

Look what just arrived! Now if only the weather would cooperate, I can start to mount these bad boys. I'll do a test fit on the Milans tonight... That part I can do without going in the cold garage and taking off the current brembo rims.
