Isn't traffic in your location a moving parking lot anyway?

16-18 in town with The Brembo package and 3.73 gears here. Improved from 14-15.5 after about 5k miles. No tune and running 93 octane from Costco mostly. Range variation is subject to how many times I'm first at a light or otherwise have safe opportunities to let the ponies out a bit :-) otherwise I do not shift particularly early but I do skip to 6 (would not do this without the 3.73s) once I am up around 40 when stuck in the heard. No reason to hold on to the meat of the power band guzzling the go go juice when mired in a pack of minivans and the like.

Highway cruising @ 70-80 nets 25ish average.

Interesting, I've had my '12 GTCS for a month now, just over 2000 miles. Bone stock, auto and I drive between 40 and 50mph on side roads every day. I've been averaging 18.8 according to the car. Don't know how accurate it is...anyone tested it?

I have a 2010 Mustang GT Auto with a JLT CAI & 91 Tune & I think I get less MPG then my car stock. Sounds weird but that's what I have noticed.

I would think that you would get less mpg with those mods.

my experience has shown that to improve mileage:
1. Clutch and coast going down hills and in town at 40-50 mph
a. clutching seems to make MPGs better when using the throttle (learning?)
2. Dive like a egg is under your foot (as has been posted)

Clutching where prudent raised my MPGs from 23 to 27 MPG 85 % Hwy

* Your mileage may vary*

What exactly do you mean by "clutching"????

I hope you mean using the clutch to shift into a lower or higher gear, and not stepping/riding the clutch as you coast to a stop... at that note, you're better off shifting to neutral then coasting. Pros/cons, since if you do that, you'll be harder on your brakes.

I think in some states you're not allowed to be in neutral while moving.

It's a funny situation. Gas is an "immediate" expense, meaning you think a lot about the cost of gas more often than the cost of brakes when coming to a stop without the engine to help.

I coast often when coming to a stop. I don't think I drive enough miles in a year for it to make a huge difference on my brake wear though.
