Hope I didn't screw anything up
So there I was.... WOT, going from 4th gear to 5th. Somehow I missed 5th and pushed it into third let out the clutch and locked up the rear tires (pretty good chirp) I immediately pushed the clutch in and put it in 5th or 6th but when I let my foot off the clutch it only went half way back.
Pushed the clutch in again, put it in neutral, glided for a bit, put it back into 6th gear and then it came back all the way out.
Prognosis?
Everything seems to be working fine now. I don't even think I saw the red rev limiter kick in although I could have missed it. Kind of took me for a surprise/scary while merging/surging ahead in traffic.

Wow, that's usually called "the money shift". Mainly because it's an expensive mistake typically. But if you damaged something you'd know it by now. Take a look at all your belts. A fried of mine did the exact same thing at a track day last year in his honda, and blew off one of the belts. How high in the RPM band were you when shifting to 5th? The rev limit probably did kick in and saved you.
If you were low enough in the RPM range then you probably didn't bounce off the rev limiter. The chirp is expected in those situation, but that still won't do any damage to your engine.
Its always one of my biggest worries. I take my time to be sure I'm in the right gear before I release the clutch. I think you may have been lucky.

In this case the only thing that can save you would be an automatic

I see what you mean and yes if you don't know to push to the right get an automatic. I was referring to the fact that the MGW takes a little of the slop out of the factory shifter and gives you a more precise route through the gears.

MGW is on my hot list of items. These tranny's can be a bear from 4th to 5th when your on it. I was more concerned why the clutch pedal didn't come back up right away. Motor seems fine. Just not sure if I could have caused internal trans/clutch issues that will show up later.
