The HID headlights are inverted
I got the HID's because I drive a lot in the mountains of Kosovo and Macedonia at night. I'm talking a place where potholes pop up where they were not a few hours earlier and there are always rock slides. The tunnels have no lights and well as some cars. A good set of the brightest legal lights is worth it to me. That way I can see and be seen. As for looks who cares, the car won't look so good if I hit one of those big *** rocks.
I mean, if we don't care about looks. . .

And for those that know why I'm not getting a 2011 GT, I've been looking at SHOs and Raptors to get once I get a new job. I think they would be valid replacements...

I'll be the first with a '11 no doubt about that. Unless another American shows up here it might be several years before another '11 come to this area. A lot of people in this part of the world never seen a Mustang. Everywhere I go in it people were taking pictures with cell phones, asking questions etc. Always fingerprints on the glass where people looking inside checking it out. That got to be a pain. One guy said thats not a Ford, I work for Ford for 27 years and I never seen an airplane like this. LOL. (There is a Ford Dealer in Macedonia) Although in Greece there are lots of Mustangs and they **** expensive. I would say in E. Europe in the past 9 years I have seen perhaps 6 or 7 mustangs total including the '05 I had, and the '97 I had before that. It is considered something special that only the rich can afford. Considering gas runs about $8 a gal, and unemployment is about 40%. I almost messed up and sold the '05 too cheap, but in the end I sold my '05 for almost enough to pay for the '10 I was planning to buy. Plus I sold the OEM wheels and tires, and some other stuff I had that I hadn't gotten aroung to installing. That put me real close to the '10. When they announced the '11 I canceled the '10, but the '11 was a little more expensive so I had to come out of my pocket for several K. I could have got even more money for the car, but he had cash money and ready to spend it. Didn't want to take a chance and play myself, and he go buy a Hummer or a rice bowl on 4 wheels. It was win-win situation. The only regret I have is he doesn't take care of it very well, and drives it like a mad man and it kinda hurts to see it like that. Sorry for the long rant to a simple question.
If I was ordering an '11 I would get the HID's. To me the extra light is worth it and while I think the standard lights look fine, I think the HID front end is a little meaner looking and slightly better proportioned.
How can the tinted covers possibly NOT reduce the brightness of the light coming through?
I could never figure out why people do this; yeah it looks cool, but kinda like wearing sunglasses at night.
Oh, they will definitely reduce the light slightly but that's why I'll only do the tint if I just can't stand the look of the HIDs. If I were getting regular headlights I wouldn't even consider it. Besides, the tinted look does look nice on an all black car.
Sorry, but tinting headlights is about as dumb as tinting a windshield, and tinting HID's is just laughable. I mean, as far as rice goes, tinting headlights is far worse than wings and decals, which at least don't do any actual harm.
I'll respect your opinion and you can respect mine. You can refer to my original quote below since you seem to have forgot what I said. Tinting is my last resort seeing how I'm paying extra for HIDs. This thread was for offering possible solutions for those who don't like the way the HIDs look which is why I suggested this. Personally, I think they look fine without the GT fogs in the grille.
I think one reason Ford may have done that with the HID light location on 2010+ Mustangs could be because if the turn signals were inboard on a HID-equipped car, they could be washed out or overpowered by the output of the HID headlights.
At least tinting a windshield has a functional purpose; it keeps the car cooler, reduces chances of theft, and keeps the glass intact if shattered in an accident.
