With the 1" FRPP springs on, I have to drive up on blocks to get the jack under. I typically use the points on the sides where you'd put the OEM jack. I think in the near future I'm just going to get a set of Race Ramps and tire cribs to put the car up on. From there, you could slide jack stands under and lift it a tad to remove the wheels.

do those factory jack points get a little bent from you lifting it there? its not solid steel right? isnt it more of a pinch weld like a thing piece of metal surrounded with plastic?

unless im thinking of something else

I haven't noticed any damage from using a jack. I usually eyeball it into position when lifting. I'd still rather not jack it up if I don't have to, hence the decision to get some Race Ramps.

I slightly bent one of mine on the front. It's hard to tell with the side splitters and plus my car is so low. Now I take the jack peg out first, put it into the opening on the splitter and side molding, then position the jack. No damage since.

Anytime I need to get under the rear I just back up onto my rhino ramps.

No offense to anybody, but it doesn't seem like we got to a good consensus, which surprised me. Blocks of wood, to use the rear diff or not, etc. I'm surprised there isn't a more tried & true procedure.

Wouldn't we want jack stands right where they have the posts?

Guys, is it possible to use a low profile racing jack or jack stands with 2x4s on those frame rails running under the car? I see the diagrams where it's recommended to use those at the front of the car near the cats, but what about at the rear right before that black bracket where the gas tank straps attach?

This picture shows the most solid points to use for jackstands. The rocker pinch flange is very strong, and you should not have any issues placing a jack right in the center (middle of door) of the vehicle and lifting the whole side up. Once the side is up, place your jackstands at the ends of the rocker flange, nearest to the wheel openings. Supporting your car by these four points is very stable and you are not using the suspension to hold up the car.
As far as other jacking options mentioned earlier in the thread, lifting by the diff is usually not recommended because of the stamped cover. There is a chance you will bend the cover, causing a leak. If you can get a jack all the way to the center of the K-member, that is a great place to use for getting the whole front of the car up.
NEVER jack the car up by the swaybar! You risk not only bending the bar, but you risk breaking the attachment brackets.

ok, the question i have is im about the pull the trigger on buying a boss, the side exhaust pipes are roughly about where the above picts are showing you should put them, but that conflicts with the side pipes, so where do you jack it up for the rear?

it hurts but i would be trading in both my 2006 gt and my 2012 gt/cs. i guess ill feel better after the fact....

I saw that too. Doesn't everyone read their owner's manuals?

The "pumpkin" is a time-honored place under which to jack so my impression is that using it as a jacking point might possibly cause the rear cover to leak eventually. Using the 2x4 likely mitigates this risk a little.

But who knows? It'd be great if, for the $37+K my car MSRP'd, I could get an explanation of these things from the engineers and designers as to why they say these things. Inconsiderate bastards...

Granted I have only got a 2013 GT on order but I swear by this adapter for my other unibody cars. It doesn't address jack stand locations for the Mustang but it makes a floor jack easy to use.

i noticed some mustang rear ends start to rust, seems as in this picture the rear end is coated half way? i was thinking about painting mine to prevent future rust. I don't know why ford didn't paint it good from factory ?

I use the jack and the jack stands where the picture says to jack the car from. I'll lift it, leaving enough room to pop a jack stand under and that's it. I really don't like those edges. I tried once and heard cracking and called it quits.
