Illuminated Sill Plate Dimensions

Illuminated Sill Plate Dimensions
If someone would be so kind, I am in need of the dimensions of the ford illuminate sill plate, for the flat portion with the embedded metal and lighting.
I am trying to figure out if I can fit this to a 1998GT (with modification) by cutting off the U shaped portion and essentially use only the flat portion.
But I have a sneaking suspicion that the sill of the 98 is narrower than the 2005-14.
I would really appreciate it if someone could provide the dimensions. Thanks in advance.

sill plate size
the whole thing is 30 by 2 1/2 just up to the u shape over the door opening
the metal part were the lettering is 14 by 1 1/2
