I went to look at GTI's when I first moved to Dallas. Since my budget may not be where I want it at this point, I may be looking again.

I enjoyed reading many of the posts. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when flowsome wrote about the rear turn signals:

" whenever they signal to turn, i instinctively start to merge into the next lane"

Me too. Anyone who is that close-minded is only cheating themselves. There are so many wonderful cars out there. I'm sure the selected OEM is very happy though - they get loyalty without having to give anything in return

Unfortunately they are on every forum, this one included.

Yes it does, I rarely put it up even in this hot weather. Just no need for it, the tinted glass blocks enough sun so you can stay comfortable. I don't know how you would do over 5 hours under it but normal driving conditions are fine.

The car isn't crazy hot when I get in either, the black leather is a bit hot but not as bad as the metal on the steering wheel. I just have to keep my hands on the leather and I'm fine. AC rox in this car too so the cabin is cool pretty quickly.

Posted the rest of my pics and the startup video. I'm impressed at the level of respect they are displaying.

I actually cross shopped the GTI before I bought my '09. GTI cons: FWD, VW's rep (deserved or not) for electrical problems, turbo engine required premium gas. They get a little better EPA estimated gas mileage, but the price of premium gas pretty much negates the better MPGs.

It is undoubtedly a fun car to drive, though. The DSG with paddle shifters rocks.

I was totally thinking the same thing. They're just generally a bunch of HATERS. These guys could at least stop drinking the cool aide long enough to give the Mustang the props it deserves.

Those GTIs are kinda fun though. Its funny they way they lift their back leg when cornering hard, like a puppy. VW products though with those electrical gremlins...no thanks.
