If I could do it over again, two years ago, when searching for a new 2014 GT, I would have gone with a glass roof...Also, if glass roof would have been available when I bought my 2015, I would've gone for it.

I only have #'s for GT500's, and am not sure how many 2K options you have to sell for it to be profitable.
Ford started offering this on some of it's models in 2009.
.
2009 - N/A
2010 - N/A
2011 - 634
2012 - 450
2013 - 643
2014 - 636

I believe there were about 1600 cars in 2014, total. I forgot where I got that number. I'd assume the totals for each year are about the same.
I actually just saw a 2011-2012 GT with the GR the other day, on the freeway. It was Kona Blue with the nickel 5-spoke 19s. We were in the Focus though, otherwise I would've given him. A wave.

That reminds me of the only down side I have heard of on the Glass Roof. Some guys had problems with the shades breaking. I am just careful with mine when I put it out. But am afraid that due to low production that the parts will become obsolete after awhile.

One consideration: if you are going to track the car, the glass roof probably is not a good idea from the safety perspective. I would think they would break in a roll-over and not protect you as well as the regular steel roof. Also probably adds some weight, up high where you don't want it.

i went back and forth on this option when i ordered mine.
ultimately, im 5'5" so have never felt the cabin to be cramped.
i also have a ttop car.
i struggled to understand why a fixed panel that isnt that large cost $2k when a much larger, openable pano roof on nearly any suv is only $1000-$1500.
ultimately what killed it was that i dont think it looks clean because of the black strips in the roof fore and aft of it, particularly in front. almost makes it look tacked on/aftermarket to me, and that was the killer.
honestly, havent missed it.

I remember in the same article talked about how the Glasstop actually made the car body stiffer providing better handling. Now that is probably offset by the extra weight. Don't remember where I read that, but if I find it I will post it here...

I have a really old thread somewhere with lots of info on the Glass Roof. I believe in there somewhere was a photo of the Glass Roof cars sitting outside the factory. The actual glass was installed at a separate location. So the cars literally had like a sticky plastic over the top. But there is a extra bracing in the roof for rigidity. So that may be likely. But also offset as mentioned due to the extra weight on top.

Not sure if you guys remember but there were a couple of members on TMS that did track their GR cars. I think one was gray and one was yellow. I want to say one of the guys did what I mentioned earlier - removed the glass and added a CF panel to the roof in its place.

If you've ever seen glass used for walls and for things like railing/banisters on stairs you realize it can be very strong and rigid. Heck even building facades. I never had a doubt about the strength of my glass roof as long as it was in place.

One of the best features of my '14 GT is the factory glass roof! Less than 2,000 built, only adds 28 lbs, and makes the interior feel so roomy and airy.
I've made nearly 300 passes down our local dragstrips in this car, with the front left tire often coming off the ground on launch (car runs 11.50's @ 119 in the 1/4 mile). It was a daily driver for 3 years. No issues of any kind with the glass roof.
I'll keep this car for many years, but it's spending more time in my garage so I can save it for drag racing and nice sunny days.
