I am considering buying a 2010 modded GT Premium. It has every option, including panoramic glass top (pic below). Car is listed on eBay, link at bottom of this post.
I have talked (at length) with the seller and he seems like straight shooter.
One of my big concerns is the panoramic glass top..... is this option considered 'good' or 'bad' or does it not make any difference????
Seller says frame has been strengthened to accommodate for the top, so I'm not really worried about cracking. I guess I'm just curious if there's any specific issues with these glass tops in general?
Thanks for any help with this

WTH is up with this GIANT eBay 'thumbnail'????
I really like mine. I was very surprised that here in AZ it works as Ford advertised. More heat comes through the windshield than the top. I only close the shade if the sun happens to hit me in the eyes at the right angle. It was 2K option and not many were made. Some say one disadvantage is it adds weight up high like 28 lbs. It actually is stronger than the normal top and adds some rigidity.
Yes it is awesome. And a very very rare option. I thought it was a stupid waste of $2k until I sat in one and drove it. It makes the cabin so much nicer and airy. It's why I didn't get a 2015. Had to order a 2014 with it, and Ford doesn't seem to be wanting to bring it back, so it might be my last Mustang
Just don't get caught driving it in a huge hail storm. If you've see pics of hail so big it went through a windshield then this would be the same I'd imagine. But I'd imagine your much more likely to bite the dust in a regular traffic accident than a freak baseball size hailstorm where you couldn't find cover.

It's thicker than the windshield glass so I'd assume it'll crack but not shatter. The good thing is, my GR is covered under my glass insurance so if it cracks, it's only $100 deductible as opposed to my $500 regular deductible. Confirmed with State Farm this is the case.
Definitely good, I would have loved to have one, it's rare. I couldn't find any with the glass roof with track pack and in my color choices when I was shopping for my Stang.
Very cool option!
Great for cruising, but for me I wasn't going to spend $2K extra to add 30+ pounds to the very top of my car!
But I ordered my car stripped to save weight and money!

I know stangfoeva had his chip from a rock in the road and had it replaced. That's the only thing I've ever heard of happening. It just caught the very front leading edge.
And I think somebody at one time had trouble with the shade getting stuck.

Yeah actually I believe Jason's was cracked when he went to take delivery. So it was replaced before he even took it home. IIRC.
Trust me, you can still corner with the Glass Roof!
Oh yeah, and air suspension too!
Weight can always be overcame with power and or proper suspension mods!
Like I said very cool option, I just wasn't going to spend $2K extra for more weight on top of my car.
Not to get too much off topic but what was your best 1/4 mile time?
and when did you go out to sac raceway, did you win a trophy?

Yeah you'd have to get a Premium to even be able to get the option. I would've rather had the base model with cloth Recaros and Glass Roof!
These pics were from last year's Fast Fords event which was in May. My best was a 12.7 @ 117, launching very lightly. My buddy (at the event) was buying those wheels and tires from me so I didn't want to beat on them too much. At that mph, I think it easily has a 12.3 in it with a good launch, possibly even 12.0...
And yeah I got 2nd place in the street class, behind a guy running an all stock 05 V6 auto. Bracket racing, so the more consistent, the better. As we were about to line up, I heard the announcer say he had won the last 2 events and goes to the track every week. This was my first time taking this car to the track!!
Best option Ford ever put on a car......( the reason I didn't order a 2010 MY )
A survey on the SVTP site noted it was the # 1 option people " wished " they had ordered..
The only option I ordered on my 11, one of 2 options I ordered on my 14.

I also am ot looking at the S550 cars simply because of the lack of the glass roof. Have a 2012, and will keep it for quite some time. Don't want to go back to a steel roof now.
I absolutely love mine. As nice as the brand new Mustangs are, I really wouldn't want to swap mine out for a new one unless they bring back some form of glass roof.
As far as the concern about hail damage, if the hail storm is bad enough to crack the glass roof, it's going to beat the heck out of a metal roof (and hood), too.
I'm going to add the the chorus of praise for the glass roof. I think it's an incredibly neat option.
As mentioned, it does add quite a bit of weight, at the highest point of the car. If you were looking for the optimal performance set up, this wouldn't be a good pick...certainly (as Laserred38 has illustrated) it can be overcome with some skill (and some investment ).
Also, not to be "that guy" but the 2010 is the oddball of the S197 era. It has the revised body/interior but the old drivetrain. Yes, the 2010 GT's 4.6L 3v is a wonderful, strong motor but it's a huge step behind the Coyote that came a year later and it is severely limited when it comes to mods. Stock internals typically max out around 400-450hp. The Coyote is safe to 50% more than that....but this might be entirely irrelevant depending on your goals!!
