+1. I've never really heard of a "good" replacement glass story.

Dan, I had a similar sized one on mine, and the insurance approved repair guy was able to fix it. Only problem was that the film on top started to yellow quickly. Maybe it's worth getting a second opinion?

This. Unless you garage your Mustang, things will happen to it. Windshield rock chips, paint scratches and dings, curb rash... (my daily driver has all of these).

Don't expect it to stay perfect. Get over it and drive that sucker.

Thx for the heads up Tom, but i don't think it applies to my particular problem since the chip is so small.

Yeah i taught about getting a second opinion, but these guys are at the top of their game over here. Will see if i could get another auto glass shop to look at it.
Man it sucks, it's not so much the rock chip itself that's bothering me, but rather the place it occured. Right in the middle of where i spend 90% of my time looking out driving. First thing i see sitting in the car after buckling up is that chip staring at me. Oh well, i'll go read on some news on how Haiti is doing, maybe that'll cheer me up a bit.

That sucks. In Florida, the law requires that any chip or crack in the windshield within the swept area of the wipers must be repaired or replaced at no charge to the customer (not even a deductible) as long as the customer carries comprehensive insurance.

Yep, that was the main reason.

I hear you, Dan... I'm the same way! That chip in the line of sight would drive me nuts, especially as I would know it's there...

Hope you get it taken care of...

My insurance always has full glass coverage.

They will repair if the crack can be covered by a dollar bill or replace if not.

A very cold overnight soak, followed by a suddenly hot defroster blast will cause a small crack to get large.

The "repaired" cracks stop grwoing but always look cracked.
