That was what we found doing some testing. Running 93 octane we were surprised to see that on the stock tune (after driving on the stock tune with 93 octane in the car for about 100 miles) the results were very close to a pull with a tune on the car for 93. The adaptive timing bumped things up quite a bit on the stock tune.

I found out about it through the Montgomery County Mustang Club. It's next weekend at KP-Racing and starts at 5pm with MCM getting the dyno at 6pm.

If you're interested in joining MCM, let me know.

My butt dyno can feel it. When I go back to 87 after running 91 for awhile, it feels very sluggish.

I was just looking at KP-Racing's web page and they do custom tunes. For those you not familiar with KP Racing, they built a 1,100 hp twin-turbo Ford GT that went over 200 mph in the Texas mile. I might just ask them what a tune would cost while I'm there.

My guess is 260 rwhp

This^^^^^

They are a couple videos out on youtube. I think one by American Muscle and one by someone messing around on a dyno . They both came up with around 8 more wheel horsepower just by switching to 93 octang gas........

Wonder why Ford doesn't say that about the V6......they comment about how the V8 will have slightly higher hp with premium versus regular gas, but nothing about the v6???

You'd think they would as it's a pretty good selling point, especially for the V6 Performance package.

Because only a few are gonna buy the v6 and put premium in it. The performance gain isn't worth it to those pol but most on here will and love it!

Yeah, that is scary. But it does bring a question to mind: What would be the highest safe speed with the stock drive shaft? I assume a tune could raise the speed limiter instead of completely disabling it.

Someone forgive my ignorance. I heard that once you use a higher octane gas you can never go back to the lower octane. (Stock no tune)

Not true. The adaptive knock/spark system will advance AND retard timing. I've gone back and forth between 87 and 91 and had no problem.
