There's another thread on here with a guy talking about how he ran his cars 55 miles past E. it's usually about a 2 gallon buffer.

Farthest I ever made it on one tank was 400 miles with about 8 miles to E. that was at 73-74 mph.

Getting the least miles per tank sounds like more fun.....

I have put 16.7 in a 16 gallon tank before in my old suv. And I personally wouldn't run a car dry, or to low for that matter...

well i have the results, thought it would do a little better, but I'm guessing the engine is still tight and once it loosens up it will improve a bit.

Got 355 miles to 0 E and to add another 15 after 0 I'm looking at 370 miles on a full tank going at 70mph most of the way on cruise control.

basically at 70mph i was seeing around 21-22mpg, dropped to 65mph and it was getting around 25-26mph. the 3.73 gears are a big factor for this, and i think the GT500 spoiler actually lowered my mpg's, i did the same trip without the spoiler and was getting around 22mph going 75mph, as the wind presses more on the tail of the car compared to spoiler delete.

at the gas station i filled up 15.2 at 355 miles and thats 23.3mpg, the dash indicator actually shows a slightly lower reading to the real results.

anyways... my 6-7 hours of travels was well worth this ...

Yeah...those 3.73s are definitely hurting you. At 80 MPH, my car is barely turning 2,000 RPMs and that obviously helps get 27 MPG even at that speed. I haven't been patient enough yet to see how good I can do with a full tank at 65-70 max. Though I am curious...

yea at 80mph I'm at 2250-2300 rpms. I was actually thinking of giving 3.55 gears a try sometimes, but ill do that maybe around 4-5k miles, that way the rear end will be all broken in and draining the rear end will likely get some metal particles out or any other junk after a break in.

Spoilers, front splitters, rear diffusers, side window louvers, and hood scoops will all lower gas milage. Especially any aerodynamic device that increases downforce.

In otherwords, the most aerodynamically efficient Mustang is one that looks like a base model.
