Dec 2009 Car and Driver trashes V6 Mustang
The 2010 mustang has generated 4 times the amount of the Challenger sales. But is no where near outselling the Camaro by 9,000...

The 2010 Mustang arrived in April.
Of course the current V6 base Stang is a cheap way to get Mustang style without paying for the substance, is that any surprise to anybody? That the current V6 Stang chugs along with an ancient truck motor, has a flaccid suspension and wispy brakes? No revelations there.
With no real direct competition, Ford could a did get away with it with a somewhat insipid base model, but no longer as now there is real competition and Ford has to and apparently is upping there game with the V6..
So the real question with the C&D piece is that they trashed the V6 Stang, revealing nothing new, but why they even bothered. Perhaps they needed to fill some space, had one in the motor pool for some odd reason, and perhaps figured it would be a good set up for a subsequent test of next years revised V6 model. Hopefully, in addition to the MUCH better 3.7 coming down the pike, backed by a proper six-speed tranny, the V6 model will inherit some current GT suspension and brake bits since that model will be getting uprated to the 5.0 and will need much better running gear than it now has. That could make the V6 model an actual, viable performance car rather than a sedate secretary's special. Will be interesting to see.

C&D kind of lost it's way for a while but is really getting better nowadays, easily the best car mag in the land. I may not always agree with their pick of a comparo test winner (personal taste and priorities can differ) but they tell it like it is and write well.
Also, +1 to this forum. Commentors have been mature and intelligent enough to realize that the article in question is pointing out very valid faults in our beloved car (as opposed to the blind fanboyism often seen on enthusiast forums.)

I guarantee they'll say the same thing about the '11. "It's actually okay, for a V6"....the same goes for the Camaro. Being a pack rat with 20 years worth of car magazines, you start to notice patterns. There could be a 400HP V6 Mustang and it would still get faint praise from the magazines and us.
There's also the same crap with the Corvette. Every time a new Corvette comes out,it's always.."Is the Corvette finally a world beater??"
