Current Life Cycle Ends in 2011?
Enjoy unemployment you zilches. Nobody feels sorry for you. They just make it so difficult to buy American. I won't buy GM/Chrysler because of the bailouts/bond holder railroading/gov't ownership, and now it looks like I'll be passing on Ford due to good old fashioned American greed.

Seeing as that we're seeing the 2011MY(Model Year) Mustang at the end of 2009CY (Calendar Year)
Maybe that will hold true for the years ahead... 2012MY in 2010CY...2013MY in 2011CY...Then the
article states that the current life cycle ends in 2011CY. The 2013MY may stretch out until the plant (or new plant) revamps for 2014MY. So 2014MY will be all new for the 50th Anniversary.
Ford holds less share in Mazda so they may leave Flatrock to them to built the 6 and another Mazda (2)? Ford may use a flex plant to produce Mustang and maybe a Lincoln spinoff.

Read Mr. DeLorenzo's column on the moronic actions taken by the UAW rank-n-file....

Reprehensible. Truer words (or word) have never been said...

I thought Job 1 for the '11s isn't until CY10. If the cycle ends in 2011, MY12 would be the last to roll out of the plant.
You boycott GM & Chrysler due to the bailouts. Thats fine and 100% acceptible. I would too! But your now going to boycott Ford because of the Union, not because of what Ford did, but what the Union is doing? You know its Ford that wants the Union to accept the concessions right? The Union wants to keep making more money and won't help Ford fall in line with GM/Chrysler for labor costs! The Union is to blame, not Ford!! So in your logic, your going to not buy a Ford car, not based on what Ford actually did, but what the Union is doing to Ford? Ford isn't to blame here bud, its the Union!! By you not buying a Ford, your punishing Ford for what the Union is doing!
Of course there won't be a 2012 Mustang. Haven't you guys heard that the world is going to end in 2012? There's a movie about it and everything (don't remember the name). The Flat Rock plant is just thinking ahead and giving everyone a year of vacation before civilization falls.

Sorry, don't believe in the Mayan calendar
I remember a few bemoaning the new 'Stang for what you mention, but I also remember quite a few praising its new found asthetic aggression. Actually, if I remember correctly, most people were upset that the redesign didn't go far enough -- that the 2010, unless you were looking for it, could easily be mistaken for an '05-'09 model.
As is the case with any new Mustang, because it is such an icon, you're not going to please everyone with each successive redesign. I remember a lot of people complaining about the 2005's too vertical front end, plain-jain hood devoid of scoops, bulbous rear end, they deviated too far from the concept cars, etc.
IMO, just like anything, just because you're the most vocal, doesn't necessarily mean you're in the majority.
EDIT: Maybe I missed something, but who or what is "the Q?"

I've got nothing but good feedback for the most part about my GT500. Yeah there are some Mustang owners that don't like the rear. However, most people I've talked to at shows and on the street love the car. I think it appeals to people outside of the traditional Mustang demographic. A lot of my friends with high end cars love the new interior.
Look, I know plenty of folks out of work that would take those concessions in an instant just to have a job. I thought the blow-up of GM and Chrysler, and finally having the UAW have to grovel a bit would open their eyes to reality. Turns out it was just another bump in the road of ignorance. Get it through your skulls, being an auto worker is NOT A GOOD JOB ANYMORE. Stop living in the past, and realize you are lucky to even have a job and there are plenty of people out there who would happily do yours for you. Until I am confident that message has gotten through, I will purchase no car built by UAW labor.
BTW, it's not just the UAW either that doesn't "get it". The CWA has recently found out how little their jobs are actually worth, and how little the public gives a rats rear about their "plight" of having free healthcare, guaranteed annual raises, and pensions/benefits through end of life.
It's over charlie.

I am sure I am going to ruffle some feathers with this comment, and I realize that there are always exceptions to every generalization, but I would argue that most of those who have been the most passionate about their criticisms of the 2010 design are people who have only recently jumped on the Mustang bandwagon with the success of the S197.
I would say that more long term Mustang owners and those that have owned more than one design have learnt to appreciate all of the various iterations of the car over the years (both good and not so good). I think there are some people who are a bit too faithful to the 05/09 design because it is all they are familiar with rather than others who have owned and had time to become appreciative of a number of different years/designs.
If you want to see some bad tail lights, try the 71-73, the 74-78 or the 87-93 GT "cheesegrater" designs! They all make the rear of the 2010 look like a piece of fine art!
I also disagree. I think the 2010 has been very well received outside of a few very "vocal" individuals who don't like the rear (although I think most have learnt to love it).

Agreed...
(although I liked the rear of 87-93 GT) but still the 2010 rear is growing on me.
Exactly, think of who Ford is still in cahoots with at the Flatrock facility, but is suddenly uncomfortably distant from on a corporate level. The Ford-Mazda relationship apparently went cold very, very quickly following the Ford sell-off of a large portion of their stake in the brand. Given this, their rather cozy agreement with Mazda as relates to the Auto Alliance facility has to be uncomfortable now for various reasons. I have had the distinct feeling that Ford is looking for an excuse to get out of Flatrock without making more of a stink than necessary for some time now, and were I a betting man I would wager that we can expect to see Ford continue to distance itself from Mazda over the next several years.
Put more simply, I very seriously doubt that the rear end of any car has anything to do with this.
