Sounds like you need to burn the garage down and then take the mustang out for a ride that's so fast it will make the engine paint smell. Problem solved...no mo critters.

Wish I had a garage.

So the adjuster is coming out tomorrow. Talking to him over the phone, it looks like the firewall insulation is covered too. Now I get to see by how much. I'm sure it will be a smooth process.

So depressing. The adjuster just looked at my car. While we were looking at the found damage we found other exposed wires that became dinner for my dead rodent friends. I think this is going to be a full harness replacement. At least it's covered and I will get new firewall padding. Whohoo!!!!!

So I assume this will require my dash etc to be pulled out? *sigh*

One more question. I took of the strut tower brace off. There's no need to put it back on before I take to the dealer, right?

Yes you can run without the brace and non premium cars doesn't have the brace.

That's not entirely true btw. I have a base GT and it came with the STB

And VidPro, I don't see why they would have to remove the dash or any interior components.

That's what I'm hoping. I assumed that if the harness needs replacing they need to dismantle the dash. I hope to get a call soon on the estimate. I told them I want it back to factory and if it's better to replace the harness do it.

I just talked to the shop. So it looks like they will be replacing connectors where the damage occurred. I think that's probably for the best if it's done right and looks factory.

The one thing that has me freaked is that they told me that the tranny might need to be dropped to replace the firewall padding. WTF? That's gotta be wrong, right? She said the tech said that's probably not the case but wanted me to know. Needless to say I am heading over to the shop tomorrow to speak to the tech and get the details of what's going on.

* triple sigh*

Don't worry about them dropping the transmission... That's not a very invasive job. And aren't these transmissions electronically controlled so they wouldn't even have to remove anything in the interior around the shifter? Even if not, all they would have to do is remove the shift linkage to the transmission.

You know what I was thinking... You're doing all this replacement and fixing, which is fine. But, have you addressed the root cause of the problem? Meaning, the "got dam" critters? . If not, you'll have wasted all this time, money, and frustration for nothing. If you're still outdoors, it will happen again. You won't be able to kill all the mice/rats outside. Or are you getting a garage?

Speaking of critters.... They are hanging new power lines near my apartment and garage. The entire area underneath them used to be an overgrown field with really tall grasses and bushes. I can only imagine how many "got dam critters" got displaced when they plowed it all down. I need to check that garage now and lay a new perimeter of moth *****.

Thanks for the info.

Addressed for at least for two of them and no return since. I think a month or two now since any activity.

This is the first time I've ever had this problem and I'm hoping the last. I will continually take precautions by setting traps and other goodies for the varmints but that's all I can do for now until we buy a new house in a couple of years. I am going to look for winter storage again and hopefully i can afford it.

I like the latter suggestion. If house is a couple years away, winter storage indoors is a must.

That will be the plan. All depends on how much. I'll start looking at options.

So I was looking at the firewall insulation when I had my hood open...and ****. I feel bad for the tech that has to install that. There's like 2 inches of clearance at most. I'm surprised they don't have to remove the engine

I don't know how they get it on and off considering there is 1-2 inches to work with at most. Open the hood and take a look
