I store my convert for 5 months of the year and decided to lift it out of harm's way.
I live very rural and needed something to help do the servicing on my vehicles anyway.

This makes a lot of sense, but...

I went and checked the battery cover again last night, and I noticed there were a lot of black flakes from the battery cover sitting on the battery tray. I do not think a rodent would have left them. Anyway, I tried to pick them up with my fingers and they immediately crumbled. I then poked the battery cover lightly with my finger and it cracked. I think the black fabric of the battery cover gets brittle with the heat and flakes off due to vibration.

Now you folks with mouse droppings and firewall insulation missing, that's a different story. But I don't think these battery covers are made to last.

The only critters I've ever had in the car are the 720 horses at the rear wheels...

Nice setup! So what does something like that run? How high are your ceilings in that garage?

Thanks Shaney. Ceiling is just a little over 11 feet high and the cost was around $3200.00. Very happy with the unit. So stable that I used it to put up my ceiling. Put the air compressor up there and moved everything on the wheel kit that came with it.

Well after some investigation I found this and several other chewed wires going to the injectors. It hasn't been a problem until yesterday when pulled a code.

I'm beaten down at this point and don't know what to do. The only good thing is my critter problem is gone for now. This must have happened initially when I first battled them. *double sigh*

I have my ideas on the fix but any advice will be appreciated.

omg....stupid f---ing critters. I'd repair the wire yourself buddy. That's part of the harness and you'd need to get an entire harness. Should be a pretty easy repair and just make sure you cover it entirely with electrical tape as the factory harness is

Thanks. I needed a night to clear my head about this...a bar visit yesterday helped too.

I think I'm going to buy new connectors and solder them onto the harness and then tape. If I do it right it should be fine. I did a full search of other wires and I'm only seeing damage to the injector wires. I guess the little bastards likes being under the cowl.

So my insurance will cover this damage but I'm not sure with the deductible if it will be worth it. I also don't trust anybody with my car so if Ford service is just going to replace the connectors I'd rather do it myself. I doubt the firewall insulation will be covered, though.

If insurance will cover the damage to the wires, they should also cover the damage to the firewall insulation

The claim is in. Now I need to wait for an adjuster. I'll update when that happens.
