the dealers, and i firmly believe this, have no (insert cuss word) idea what they are talking about. and it would be stupid of any dealer to start pushing the 2010 when the 08's are still out there.

the debate of the power adders can and will be argued into the ground. what is going to make the difference is what the internals will handle and i doubt this 5.0, if the base v8 in the future, is going to be built bullit proof from ford. there are builders out there that will be able to pull decent power but the majority will not get the recipe. even the magical all powerful 03-04 cobra which could hold good power found a average breaking point that a handfull of people were able to pass.

you can not compare one boost level and two different cr's because yes one will make more power but the other can handle alot more boost. just my .02 and i am sure russ has the other side to argue with.

internals and the quality of them, just saying.

Why Ford? Why? I'd be afraid if the carry over engine or a slightly tweaked version of the 4.6 3V proves "adequate" in Ford's eyes should the 2010 Mustang GT somehow be able to run (close) with the class competition. Then Ford would probably reserve the 5.0 32V DI engine for SE models - that would earn a big thumbs-down.

I wouldn't worry about that too much.

If the 5.0 can outdo the 4.6 on every level, there is no reason to keep it around.
It sounds like that is the intent.
The 4.6 3v was nice for the time being, but the 5.0 will just plaster it to a wall, take it to the car wash, and then pee on the remains.

Yeah, it'll be THAT good of an engine

5.0 DOHC 4Vwill be the best stock mustang GT engine in a long time.
Ford should have made it ready for duty for 2010, but I guess we can survive one more year with the 4.6 unfortunately.
This 5.0 should be 400hp stock with a lot of room to grow just like the 5.4.
For the first time in a long time, Fords paying attention to forums like this, and seems attentive to our desires to compete with the competition as well as increase the attention to details etc.
Exciting time to be a fan!
Great link, to some interesting info. Thanks.

I bet you'll see a lot more nitrous 5.0's than blown or turbo'd now.

Just wait for the DI version to come out. The natural cooling effect of DI allows for higher CR with high boost.

Look at the Mazda DISI engine. 9.5:1 while pushing over 15 PSI from the factory!!

Took the words right out of my mouth, however, I did have to remind myself that GM shoved
the LS2 6.0 into the GTO at appox. 3725lbs. Wasnt a big fan of the GTO, but that LS2 motor
is strong.
If they dropped the 6.2 in the GT500, common sense tells me the the front splitter will be touching the pavement and the rear wheels wont be.

I can't wait to see pictures of this engine sitting in the 2011 engine bay.

although no solid proof to the internet rumor, it is going to be a 11.5:1, not throwing any boost at that unless you want to grenade it. just my .02, because although it will be a great motor, ford will not have their base v8 getting the romeo treatment.

as for the 9.5:1, what is wrong with running 15 lbs of boost without the di??

its really all about the tune. Mustang people seem like wusses when it comes to boost.

the evo and supra guys push 50-60psi in their engines, heck even stock an evo runs 20lbs of boost.

i don't see any reason why you couldn't push 15psi with 9.5 compression without direct injection.

Dont tell anyone, but the 3V comes with 9.8-1 CR and it takes boost just fine.

lol, seriously though i am not going to read your link. i refuse to learn anything today.

sorry, i drank a monster coffee drink and i am bouncing off of the walls. you can find all of the articles you want that will support your theory but at the same time there will be the same amount if not more that will argue the other side. this can be argued into the ground but until ford puts out some solid info then i am going with the internal quality side.
