Cosmetic only lowering advice requested

I have a 2014 GT Prem Convert w/19" OEM wheels and just ordered a set of Boss 302S 19 X 9 wheels.

I'm looking to lower for cosmetic purposes, perhaps an inch or so and don't want to replace anything other than springs. I'd like to stay with gennie Ford, but a/m is OK if it's good stuff.

Any recommendations? I assume that camber and toe need to be tweaked.

Thanks

Tom

Eibach Pro Kit springs and Eibach camber bolts did exactly that for mine. You may need a panhard bar too, to correct the axle position after lowering.

Your car looks great. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Any clearance issues or difference in ride quality?

Thanks

Shocks and struts should also be a consideration. Not that the stock ones won't work, but they will wear prematurely, so at least budget to replace them early.

no clearance issues whatsoever. The ride is a tad rougher but not much. handling is improved alot. less nose dive and body roll. For the cost i'm quite happy. Shocks and struts later, as mentioned. I saw no need to replace those till needed.

due to the extra rear weight of the vert, you may want to have the mechanic include a spacer on the rear springs to maintain a bit of rake, else she'll sit pretty level.

Good advice....I thought about a bit of rake, but after seeing yours I really like the stance.

Your wheels are beautiful. I'm not crazy about the darked-out or semi-darked look on an all black Mustang. They sure work on yours though. Good job.

I couldn't locate any other color choice that had a stick and didn't have the big $$$ electronic package east of the Mississippi. Plenty of other colors with automatics including DIB, but a stick was priority one.

Mine came off the floor and I wasn't 100% convinced of the color at first, but my gut said do it. The triple black has really grown on me big time. I'm glad I pulled the trigger. DIB w/401A Cashmere was at the top of my list. Love yours.

Here are the wheels I ordered today...Boss 302S with alum & black:

Very nice wheel choice. Congrats on the color. I have an all black Fx4 f150 which is my 2nd career (keeping it nice).

Here is a better picture showing the slight rake i was talking about. It's very minimal but makes a statement. At a show n shine last week, with new CF hood installed.

The more I see your Mustang, Darren, the more I like it. Where else in this place are there more shots?

And btw, I was a cruise tonite, and got talking to a couple of Mustang guys. I mentioned I wanted to lower my car slightly, and one owner immediately recommended the Eibach Pro Kit springs....so it's off the the American Muscle web site now.

Thanks Dacm99. The CF hood is getting clear coat this week and will have matching stripes after that, a few weeks later. So that should tie it together nicely.

Do yourself a favor and spring for a set of the Koni STR.Ts while you're in there. They extended the sale through August. It will make your ride much better and you won't have to replace the stock stuff in a year...

At the least ... you should get a Panhard bar to re-center the rear end when lowering.

Depending on budget ... you should replace the Shocks & Struts ... & upgrade the upper strut mounts.

For the drop ... you will be very happy with the http://www.steeda.com/store/steeda-m...ings-555-8206/

Send me an email at tim@steeda.com if i can help you with your plans or if you would like to set up an order?

Best Regards,

TJ

It really depends how low you want to go, Steeda can definitely take care of you

You'll have to factor an alignment into the cost of an installation as well

I have a 2009 Mustang GT. The car was already lowered when I bought it but of course, the previous owner did not go the extra mile to ensure the suspension was correct after lowering. I installed a set of Steeda Cast and Camber plates, replaced the struts and shocks, and then took it over to the dealer for an alignment. They told me that I still needed Camber Bolts. Is this true or are they jerking me for some extra coins?

I'd say yes, for if you got the camber plates, that's all you'd need. We're not talking a ton of camber correction.

They just don't want to mess with it, or they don't know how the plates work, or yes, they're jerkin' you for extra $.
