Thanks a lot, all you've done is raise about 2 million more questions.

Obviously the 5.0, 4V TT replaces the GT-500 engine.
But is it the magic larger bore mod motor we've been promised for the last 7 years, or is it the other project, a 90.2mm bore mod motor with a deck height between the 4.6 and 5.4?

Does the 3.5TT replace the 4.6 GT engine?
Or do we get a 4th Mustang engine, a 5.0 NA?

And does the D35 or D37 become the base engine?

I won't pose any more questions as this creates enough uncertainty for now.

We knew the 3.5 Eco would be in there at some point....

If a 5.0 TT were to come in, would probably be a GT500 engine.

Seriously, Ford has a nasty habit of putting "stuff" in the system that never sees the light of day. An S197 Mach 1 comes to mind. Saw all kinds of "stuff" in the system that pointed to one coming out in 07' It never materialized.

 

Ford is Not going to Take the Camaro & Challenger Lightly it seems.

Yes I realize the 4.6 is gone, the question I'm raising is will it be replaced by the 3.5TT or a 5.0 NA or both?

Given the Mustang's sagging sales, Ford will have a VERY hard time justifying 4 different engines in the next gen Mustang.

 

The 2009 Nissan 3.8-liter twin turbo is laying down some serious HP!! Did I mention that it also ran 0-60mph in 3.5 sec?

either the 3.5 is standard and the EcoBoost 3.5 is a base, option or SE

I doubt it would be the base. It's probably not a cheap engine, your right.
Option... I could see that. However... being that it WILL a LOT more cars than just the mustang, they could spread the cost across more vehicles.

250HP 3.5 base with 315hp EcoBoost option
400hp GT
550HP GT500

Don't know it could play out a bunch of ways.

Man, if Ford does give the green light on the TT 5.0 I can see the next Mustang raping the Charger & the Camaro.

Hopefully this Mustang (TT 5.0 version) won't be as heavy as the current GT500.

 

I would guess this might be the block for the TT 5.0: New modular block from the 08' FRPP catalog - M-6010-BOSS50;



On the March issue of 5.0 magazine there is an article on this block. It was mentioned by Sutton Performance that the block is extremely strong . It held 1250 hp to the crank all season (NMRA Renegade) for 07 with no maintenance.

Here is a paragraph I decided to type from the 5.0 article addressing a Siamese bore design for street use.

While some might wonder about running Siamese bores in the street, Jesse says, "We've had one of these blocks in Mike Tymensky's street car for more than 30,000 miles, including a trip to Florida & back, so we have a high level of confidence in the block's street application."


Anyhow, I really hope Ford gives the green light for the TT 5.0.

KC or anyone: this new automatic, does it happen to be a paddle shift type, SMG, or DSG like in the Jags, Astons, M5's, etc???

 

My Guess:
5.0 Liter 4v Twin Turbo $50k with a $20k ADM for the collector, garage queen.
5.0 Liter N/A $40k for the Boomer generation who has to have a V8.
3.5 Liter V6 Twin Turbo $35k for the GenY generation.
3.5 Liter V6 N/A $30k for the rental car fleet and the low end.

Ford aint gonna loose money on these cars, plus they are looking at a lower volume, higher profit model for the future of the Mustang.

 

Might just be 5.0 TT V8 top dawg and 3.5 GT. Wonder how that'd turn out with ADMs, luckily I've found two dealers in my area that offer MSRP for one (even on the Shelby) and 5k over invoice for the other (even on the Shelby) vs the 20k over MSRP for the the Shelby at my usual dealer.

 

The 5.0 won't be a 40k dollar car.
and that won't be the block

But I guess this puts to rest the '6.2 'boss' motor in a mustang.
The GT500 should come in lighter than the current version.
I wouldn't be a bit suprised if the Mustang GT with 5.0 is even lighter than the current car.
Ford is putting an emphisis on losing a bit of weight.
(even if this means just getting rid of the spare tire and putting in a fix-a-flat kit
