Good luck
Tom
I just talked to CS a few minutes ago. They acknowledged they promised to get back to me but haven't. They acknowledged that all 5.0's are on hold with NO expected delivery date. They acknowledged that they had no idea why mine hadn't shipped.

This little reporting task will keep me occupied for a while.

I don't believe this. In the last week I've seen at least a dozen people get theirs on various forums.

It does seem a bit far-fetched. Does that mean the line is only producing the 3.7 cars? They're not taking Shelby orders because of the commodity hold on the engine. . .

Paul posted this last week. Apparently no 5.4's available along with some polished wheels and a few other bits. Basically not able to ORDER cars with those options.

Give it 1-2 weeks and then pull up the window sticker. That will show your build date.

If you just got the VIN, relax.

You can also call Ford CS for the build date and maybe an ETA.

Build ???????????????
ETA At Dealer Week Of 04July2010

Dealer Didn,t have the build date handy, I'm going to guess the week of 16June2010? Maybe somebody with a similar VIN will have a build date. Or I should have a window sticker in a week.

Hey Corvette Dreamin.....
You mention being able to 'pull up the window sticker'. Can you explain how to do this?
Thanks

Your car was built 5/25 and is already on the way to you???? Mine was built 5/4 and ... nothing.

This is the part that confounds me. I'm happy for folks who ARE getting their cars but I just don't understand the attitude at Ford that if there IS something wrong with thousands of cars and you NOW have the right parts to fix them, fix the FIRST cars built and ship them out and then build/fix the later cars.

It makes me think that the problem is not at ALL a parts issue but rather a PCM programming issue OR a manufacturing issue that was addressed and no longer affects cars being produced but has already "damaged" the ones that came off the line previously. This happened with the Explorer redesign when it got wider. The old assembly line was actually cutting the tires because of the additional width. I don't know how many Explorers were produced before they figured it out but clearly this kind of thing happens.

Could also just be shipping. There are several different rail lines, each of them different companies and each of them with different rails that they can use. Some of them might have their act together better than others, or some might just be swamped with tons of Mustangs, particularly the ones going south. I wouldn't expect it to take this long myself, but as you say, if there was an issue with something it's likely been fixed in manufacturing now.

Heck, my car was built less than a week before his and I haven't heard anything since it got sent to Ramp 5P.

It is a fairly simple concept.

If they stopped the line to fix all the first model car defects. The delays would go on for all of there customers for a long time. By by continuing the line going they keep current orders on time and most customers happy. They also have an end to the complaints in site. When they finally get all the early cars fixed the problem and delays will be over.

It sucks for the people who have the early orders but 1000 or so angry customers is better than having customers not ordering the car because it takes 12 weeks to come in or angry customers indefinately.

Just my take on whats happening but as someone who has watched alot of new cars as the came to the market such as the G35, M3 and now the Mustang for the second time. This seems to be a common practice done by all of the car company.

I hope you guys all get your cars soon. I am also waiting for mine but it hasnt been built yet should be next week Hopefully I wont have to wait to long.

Update: Just called SVT and as of 6/4/2010 at 1:35 a.m., the car is now on Union Pacific and in Pine Bluff Arkansas. Still showed a 6/14/2010 into Dallas. Hopefully they will beat that time by a few days.

You suck! I hope your car takes 10 years to get to you.

I AM kidding. What you wrote makes perfect sense. It's hard for those of us who have been waiting so long to accept. And it further supports the notion that canceling a current order and reordering may get the car to us faster since there's "no known delivery date" for the cars on QC hold.
