Auto hp/tq dyno #'s

From SCT site

SCT is popular for their high performance tunes designed to improve vehicle performance while not sacrificing reliability. Most recently, SCT Performance took over a 2011 Ford Mustang with a 5.0-liter with an automatic transmission. SCT technicians took a stock pull on their chassis dyno to get baseline specs on the Mustang.

The dyno graph showed 360.71 horsepower at the rear wheels and 326.23 ft-lbs. of torque. The high performance tune was then applied to the car’s ECU. The dyno results showed a mid-range power improvement of 28.5 horsepower and 34 ft-lbs. of torque, though resulting in 376.36 horsepower and 356.17 ft-lbs. of torque on high octane fuel at peak power. Also, the rev limit was greatly improved from factory settings by over 500rpm.

SCT took the Mustang on a test run after getting the dyno feedback. Technicians discovered improved drivability and better shifting over the stock tune, plus the lack of a speed limiter. When tested on standard 87 octane fuel, the Mustang 5.0 had a final horsepower/torque readout of approximately 373 and 350 respectively, which is barely lower than the 93 octane tune.

SCT has many different tunes specially formatted for different makes, models, and applications to suit everyones specific needs. The computers also allow you to customize individual options in many different parameters throughout the entire vehicle's drivetrain.

Clearly this wasn't the car that ran a 12.7 @ 115 bone stock. Hmmm, SCT's stock #'s seem conveniently WAY too low to be credible.

Dyno #s will never be totally accurate even on equal machines. Mustang brand dynos' read lower than Dynojet ones for example. Just sayin'!

torque numbers on autos are very low from the dyno charts ive seen so far. they seem to have the same peak power though. these results seem credible to me.

Could the low numbers be caused by the fact that it's not possible to lock in the correct gear for testing? (i.e. the 1:1 ratio used when testing the manuals)?

So with a tune and CIA you could be looking at 40-50 xtra rwhp? Just seems to good to be true. Then add header and exhaust and thats another 30 or so? I just can not believe those bolt ons can net you 70-80+ xtra rwhp.

Joe change your profile info!

Back on topic, while I think its no secret the 5.0 is far from tapped out in stock trim these gains are almost too good to be true. Then again so is the 5.0 in my opinion

So I guess we'll have to have JJ try out everything for us

Also consider that the auto tranny has no 1:1 ratio, so the dyno readings will be slightly skewed.

And no two dynos read alike even on the same car with the same weather conditions, so just because one dyno reads a little lower than another is of little importance, what is of value is the difference in readings from one tune set to another on the same dyno and the same weather conditions.

Has anyone done a dyno with the traction control on? I wanted to see the curve to see how it's effecting engine power.

m sure with some tuning the auto will do just fine just like it helped the 05-10. We just have to wait and see. Can not wait to see more track times for the auto as the dyno only tells part of the story.

autos on a dyno can do funny things with the torque curve thats all.

Like I said before, our Automatic Tuning will be the very best, a lot of time has been spent on it. We will have multiple transmission calibrations that will fit each driver.

We will have dyno results for the following very shortly, all done step by step for both Manual and Automatic.

Results for the following will be shown after each modification and the vehicle conditions will be kept the same as the basline!

Stock Baseline
Custom Tune
CNL Cold Air Intake
Magnaflow 3" "Competition" Catback Exhaust System
American Racing 1 7/8 Longtube Headers with 3" Collector and 3" High Flow Catted X-Pipe
3.5" Aluminum Driveshaft

Track Times will be posted...

Other stuff we're currently working on...

Torque Converter (Auto)
CNC Machined Cylinder Heads
Cams
Shortblocks
