went to a party yesterday, was driving near the dealer that order my car, figured i would stop in see if anything has changed..
yep alot has changed.. my dealers lot EMPTY, only a handful of cars. about 10
almost nothing in showroom. and a note on the door that reads.

"we are sorry to inform you we are merging with another dealer, for over 62 years we have been in buisness, but apparently FORD would rather have a dealer on the post rd in milford, over a dealer in ansonia on main street."
so i called the dealer that they are merging with, which is also the dealer i bought my prev stang, ( when i inquired about it they wouldnt pre order it back in feb)
i was told my dealer is closing their doors at the end of this month,
they dont know anything about my car ( obviously) and would honor anything going on through my
dealer.

Well that car has got to show up somewhere if it got a VIN and a build date. It's certainly worth looking at and definitely need to find that deposit. If the car is supposed to arrive soon I'd tell the other dealership to watch out for your car and give them the VIN and what it looks like, or if you know your sales rep ask them if he's going to be working at the new dealer and leave him a message.
I saw this on the news about your dealer. It was very sad. There are alot of people unhappy.

I understand consolidating some Dealerships like GM & Chrysler had to do to reduce overhead thru the crunch.
But to say they're closing Dealerships because they can't produce enough cars to meet demand??? I don't think so... Ford can always add shifts and/or reopen plants if the demand side is there, and there's plenty of unemployed auto workers to quickly rebuild a highly trained staff.
But we're still knee deep in the Great Recession....

Ford has encouraged dealers to merge or simply close all together because they can't supply enough cars to sell after closing 16 plants and letting go of 70-percent of their workforce. Healey says they're now trying to help their employees find other jobs. At least a dozen or so will be able to transition to Steven's in Milford and they'll also be taking in their existing customers.
The line of reasoning isn't terribly hard, if you think about it.
They can't supply enough cars to keep the *dealerships* open. They can supply enough for the demand that is out there, but when they have to close plants because there's not enough demand, sooner or later, the same will have to happen to dealerships. It's relatively simple numbers, and somebody has to face the axe.
And the likelihood, in these days, of a smaller dealership making the cut to a bigger one? Nil. Unless said big dealership is so screwed up, like Landmark Chevy in Houston and their ownership, that it makes more sense to kill that instead. Not many are actually that messed up.
Sad to see, nonetheless. However, if you have paperwork and the deposit, you're covered, and you will get your car... eventually... or you can extract the deposit and go elsewhere, hoping to see it sooner.

I hope Ford is focusing on customer satisfaction surveys rather than volume selling when it closes dealerships. I'd rather take a small dealership with good customer focus and give it more business than a crappy dealership with terrible customer service and reward it.
im suppoed to take delivery this week. at least thats what i was told 2 weeks ago by the salesman, even tho there is " the hold " going on they assured me it was coming.
heading to the dealer tomorrow, need to know what going to happen at this point..
im really getting p*ssed at this point, and probably have to cancel get all my money back and start over so i can sleep at night.

Go tomorrow and find out what's going on and get your money back. You are still in a much better position than the former employees who now must wonder how they are going to put food on the table.
This is certainly one of those times where a call to Ford CS is in order. You need to find out where the car will be delivered and prepped. Since you're so close to delivery, it doesn't make any sense to stab for the Cancel button first and foremost.
We just bought out our nearest competitor in February. It shouldn't pose much of a problem. All of their incoming inventory, both sold and unsold, were assigned to us and everything went off without a hitch. The nice thing for the people who had ordered cars their pricing dropped because of our $300 under invoice policy. Just confirm with the new dealer that your car is coming and that the agreement for pricing stands and you'll be fine.

now here is where it gets interesting, he called ford 2 weeks ago about my order, he didnt say who he was tlaking to, but he said there is a hold on your car cause its a manual, and they told him its going to be at least 2 more months.
, so i asked why did his salesman say it would be there this week? his answer.. blank stare
everything is going to be processed by the "other dealer", everything is going to be the same. they are going to transfer my deposit, and order details to the other dealer.

Hopefully that "at least 2 months" was just made up on the spot. If there are Mustangs already built that will take at least two more months to be delivered, there are going to be a raft of cancellations. For a lot of people in the northern states a Mustang is a summer-only car. They're going to flip out if they can't get their cars until summer is mostly over.
