Thanks
1) She's not my g/f - just a friend. Her husband was the one filming our run. 2) Our local dyno shop did the tune, but did not put the car on the dyno. He just used some info from other 5.0L's he's been tuning lately.

I got the auto and have no problems with it, besides the slight lag that others have mentioned when you're almost stopped but then push on the gas pedal.

Way too much city driving in my daily commute to warrant a manual, plus the need to share the Mustang (very rarely) with people who have never shifted manually led me to get the auto.

It's a great car no matter what you get in it. The only thing that has bothered me about it is when people ask about the car and then give me **** about having an auto as they get into their 1996 POS hoopty.

Put my auto on the dyno last weekend- (Steeda CAI and Steeda tune).

IMO this is about all it can handle (safely) with stock tires, as the car goes a little sideways in the shifts

Those are your numbers after the tune? Most are getting those kind of numbers stock.

Yup-after. Justin said his tune would give similar results, so must be average for an auto. I know the manuals are getting higher. Maybe his dyno is more conservative?

Guy there with a 2008 Rouch 427R only pulled 379.5

Auto's only dyno 355-360 with 93.
Justin is a great guy and very honest tuner.

transmission / drive-train losses are higher for auto than manual transmission; those other higher numbers are from manuals (I'm pretty sure)

Yeah, manuals have a 10-12% DT loss, and automatics are more than that. I wanna say 15-18%? Cars with an IRS or FWD will lose more due to the CV axles.

American Muscle/Bama tunes baselined their automatic car at 363 stock and tuned with CAI at 385.

I should say average 355-360 stock. Yes i have seen some autos over 360 and have seen some under 360. A tune only will give another 10-20 rwhp. Add a CAI and get another 10-15rwhp.

355 HP to the wheels is much more than anyone needs for a street car.

Now, want is a differant story. For some, the more you can get, the more you want.

You are right but for an auto the tune is essential just for the shifting and the throttle response alone.

Well, if you wind out 3rd in the Auto you will be over or close to 100 MPH, so whats the point. I have the Auto and most of the time I manually shift only when going through the twisties. I'm loving the convienence, the only time it bothers me is when it shifts out of 1st too quick around a corner.
