Anyone else prefer the '12s over the '13s?
I too like the looks of the 2010 thru the 2012 vs the 2013 better. Just a personal preference, however that's the way I feel. To those of you that like the 2013's, I bet you will be very happy with them. And yes, I like the tail lights on my 2012. Buy and drive whatever you like. Whatever makes you smile when you get in and drive it is what is really important, not what anyone else thinks!

I think we'll likely see more folks who lean toward to 10-12 chime in here than those who have a preference for the 13 given the thread title. That said, while I like both variations I prefer the 13 almost across the board, with the Boss representing the biggest improvement IMO and the GT presenting the only really questionable change. Specifcally, the lights in the GT grille opening look out of place to my eye, but that is thankfully an easy fix with the Boss grille which I do really like with the GT500-esque front fascia. (or you could just opt for the GT/CS)

The more I think about it, the more I've decided I like the 2013 style with light colors like Race Red, but the 2012 with darker colors like Kona Blue.
It has to do with how the dark plastic stands out on the light colors.

I was really nervous before the 13 was revealed that I would have buyers remorse on ordering a 12. I loved the look of the 12 and am now really happy that I took delivery of it just days before the LA Auto Show. If you don't have a Mustang yet, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. The bottom line was that I didn't say *#@! what did I do when they revealed the 13. For me the 12 is the perfect retro Mustang of this generation. And when someone in a new Camaro rolls up to me, I ask the driver what kind of car is that? As he answers, I cut him off and say "it doesn't matter what kind of car it is!". LOL
Still prefer the 2010-2012, but the '13 is hot
There is some good feedback in this thread and for the most part, people seem to be clear minded and not just finding reasons to prefer the club they already committed to...which is human nature, I guess.
I like the 2013 just fine. The thing that I have found after pouring over the pictures though, is that I am liking the 2010 style rear end more and more. Not because it's a masterful piece of automotive styling (which it isn't!!) but seeing the new style has somehow made the original design intention more apparent.
For example, the weird kink on the '10 lenses (which is gone from the '13) was an effort to emphasize the trapezoidal/convex/semi-boat tail shape of the rear...which was an effort to make the rear of the car smaller. Without that kink, the rear end does look a bit more slab-like.
The now-painted rocker panels make the sides of the car look much more flabby on the new style...and the nose has lost it's sharky-sleekness and now has a very blunt look...which I'm not so sure is appropriate on the V6 and GT models.
The car ends up looking bigger and chunkier overall. Not what I prefer...but it's still a nice design.
Otherwise, all of the upgrades to the 2013s are nice. The folks who buy them will love them.

Just as a personal observation and not throwing stones at anyone's opinions or comments . . . the 2013 IS a Mustang and one of a long progression of very fine American sports cars. Whoever buys one is going to be thrilled with it!
It took me a while to come to accept the tail lights on my '12 after my '67 and '05, but everything else was spot on. I was hoping that for '13 they would return to the squared off vertical tail lights. I think the quad-pipes are spoiling slightly, the classic look of car and are totally unnecessary. They have taken some of the aggressive stance away from the front with the rounded design. I have always loved the 'hood over the grill' appearance and now, with the look of the slapped on total front fascia leading to the knuckle banging when searching for the hood release, it sort of adds to the rounding effect. I just hope so very much that the future of the Mustang does NOT involve the ridiculous "Wide Body" design that was shown with some of the photos from the show. Evolution has and always will be a controversial topic but, as far as the Mustang is concerned, it will always be a MUSTANG!

Totally blown away by the Shelby.
I'm thrilled to see the change to the GT as well, but not because I like it. I don't.
For me, the '10-'12 body style is perfect on the GT. Don't care for the Shelby nose on the 13's or the body colored rocker panels...makes the car look thicker to me (which is why they went with the dark grey in the first place).
Coupled with the exceptional 5.0 motor of the '11 and '12 models, and the fact that the '15 will be a total redesign and I'm in love with the retro look (born in 59), I'm thrilled I have a 12...it represents the last of the 2 best years ever, to me. 2011 and 12. I absolutely love everything about my car from the looks, inside and out, to how it drives...most importantly, how I feel when I'm driving it. Below are a few visual reasons why.
Regarding the Boss, I much prefer the paint scheme of the 13, but don't think it should have the Shelby nose, either.
Wonder how the GT500 folks feel about the GT and Boss getting their nose.

I like my dark rocker panels, too. And, more painted plastic on the nose is more to get chipped. Practical stuff.... To me, the '11 and '12 really look nice, and the '13 is sort of a model to make the bridge to the makeover that's coming. Frankly, that was my bet when I decided to order my 2012 - I was betting that I wouldn't care for the newer models as much. It's one of the few bets I won... . . .
