Is anyone changing their auto tranny fluid early?
I know their are some differing opinions of tranny fluid changes on the Automatic transmissions in these new Mustangs. I'm not very familiar with these transmissions other than I've heard they are pretty durable.
Should I think about changing the fluid earlier than what the manual says or stay with the manufacturer's recommendation? Thanks.

I'm having my dealer 'flush' mine on my 2011 v6 next month. It will have less than 22,000 miles but will be 4 years and 7 months old. I don't like having old fluids in my Mustang
I was wondering about that too, as the owners manual states a 150,000 mile service interval.
Since I’m running mild forced induction with a stock transmission, the current plan is sending a sample on my ‘14 GT to Blackstone for a UOA analysis at the 30,000 mile mark and see how it goes.

I was reading on one of the F150 forums and watching a youtube video that this one Tech put out about changing the fluid in one of these transmissions. He recommends changing the fluid and filter every 60,000 miles because he says the solenoids inside the tranny are sensitive to dirt and debris. I've read other things that recommend changing the fluid and filter out early to get all of the break-in material out.
They make changing the fluid on this transmission so difficult that it's hard for the DIY'er to do it. You almost have to take it to the dealer to get it done and they just want to flush it and not change the filter. Thanks for all of the replies so far.

I found it very easy to change. Just drop the pan and refill using the dipstick. This included pulling the transmission to do a converter.

I just changed the transmission fluid and filter on my 2004 ford ranger with 127,000 miles on it. The fluid was still bright red and I noticed no difference with shifts or anything with the new fluid. Hindsight, it was probably a waste of money to change.
I would say if you are racing and running over stock horsepower than it might be a good idea to change the fluid at a sooner interval than what the manual says.

How did you get the fluid level correct since supposedly the fluid has to be at a certain temp to get an accurate reading? How did you get the car up high enough so it would be level so you could check the fluid level with the little dipstick that is on the transmission?

Depends on your driving....changed mine at 22,000 miles to Mobil 1 to try and improve shifting performance...seems to have helped...will probably change every 5-8K miles as car get to the track 8-10 days a year
I had the front of mine up on ramps today fixing a little boo boo I did to the front bumper lip and looked at where the fill plug was for the tranny. It is very close to the cat and doesn't look like it would be much fun to take out with the car hot.
I have an aftermarket dipstick that goes up into the engine compartment that I was going to install but it looked like it was going to be a big pain trying to get it past some wires and exhaust that was in the way so I decided to leave it for a day when I had more time to mess with it.
