MGW Shifter + GT500 boot + Boss ****

Looking for input on how the MGW shifters fits with the GT500 shift boot (the alcantra style) and boss 302 **** (black acrylic **** + aluminum base/spacer).

Right now with the stock shifter the shift boot fits tight against the dust boot/shifter assembly and looks a little wonky. It basically just looks like the shifter is a bit too big for the boot right where the dust boot seats up top. Will the MGW be a bit slimmer in that area, or will it still look the same?

It bugs the hell out of me, for whatever reason...

No, as I have the GT500 boot which is smaller diameter up top.

As you can see in the pic, where it gets real wide just below the **** base, it's pretty snug against the shift boot.

The MGW shifter looks a little thinner left to right compared to the stock shifter, so I'm hoping it fits better in the boot, but wasn't sure.

It's really just a cosmetic issue, but I hate that the boot hangs up on that and isn't free to move around the shifter more easily.

MGW doesn't change it any. On mine, I cut the little tab off of the plastic base in the boot and used a small nylon spacer to take up the slack so it fits snug against the shifter. Otherwise it looks the same as yours there.

How thick is your spacer? I think with an extra 1/2" spacer there would be just enough slack to make it look a lot better.

Twist it back the other way...it should stay.

Mine never does. It'll stay if I don't shift, but once I do it gets twisted again. Drives me nuckin' futs.

Also, pro tip for anyone installing a Boss ****: it's apparently loctited from the factory. If I tried any harder to get mine off I'm pretty sure the shifter would break. Going to need some heat to loosen it up.

Yeah - I did re-arrange it. It hasn't moved since on mine. Just been lazy and haven't bothered taking replacement pictures

About a half inch spacer sounds right. I just grabbed a couple from the hardware store and tried them out they weren't expensive. The boot doesn't move around at all, it's pretty snug up against the shifter now. Before the spacer it was crap.

GT500 boot fits well around the MGW Shifter, I put a small spacer between my boot and the shifter ball.

What spacer? And is that a CJPP ****? Looks like mine, but I got School Bus Yellow. My boot is all bunched up like that too, around the bigger MGW rubber boot.

The spacer is the black piece at the top of the boot, it is about 3/8" thick. It just slides over the handle, I plan on changing it out with a thread one when I get time to mess with it so I can lock the ball in place.

Yep, I purchased it from CJPP. I originally purchased a the 5.0 one from them, but the wife would forget where reverse was all the time so I swapped it out for this one.
