Find out what the ring spacing is on the new pistons. Stockers are anywhere between 6 and 10 thousandths which is WAY too close for an 11:1 motor. Bigger the spacing, the safer you are from the lands breaking, which seems to be the failure point on these pistons, and #8 takes the hit because it's the hottest hole. Of course you could also figure out a way to get more coolant to the back of the drivers side head and cure the heat issue once and for all, which will probably eliminate any risk of a failure in the future.

Why don't you call MMR and ask them for their recommendation?

And they can tell you all about the sizing options.

Better yet, why not just buy a short block or long block from them, then it will be all assembled and ready to go.

I just called. They said if I send the block in it would be $600 labor and $300 to bore the block... And shipping to CA and Back.

PLUS $1700 for the rotating assembly... It would be to handle 1,000 WHP.

Unas2k5- don't you live in Michigan? Have you considered contacting Livernois? They have a great reputation and I've heard nothing but good things about their work.

I called Livernois... They don't like to install other peoples parts is what they said... They said they don't have rotating assemblies but already quoted me 2K in just parts and that doesn't include a crankshaft (probably another $500) Then labor there is always threw the roof...They're too expensive and they have to "throw something together" for me...
