Talking Best MOD Potential Indeed

but someone brought up a good point.

The 3v 5.0 that Saleen has (without DI)
is putting out 390hp@6000 and 390ftbs@4000ish

I have no doubt that the 4v can put out 400hp and 360lbs without DI.
I'd go so far as to say that look at the Saleen engine as blueprint, with the Ford production 302 being even better.
My current understanding is the Saleen Parnelli Jones 5.0 (BOSS-heritage) package uses the 3.7 stroke to achieve the 5.0 displacement. I saw one at the car show in Houston earlier this year and I think it was somewhere between 360-390 HP as advertised. It was also quite pricey, but the only production 5.0 MOD motor used to date.

I have no doubt whatsoever that a 4-V engine can produce well beyond the 400 HP with or without direct injection and/or blowers, regardless of whether this is factory or after-sale HP.

If we get the 5.0 (3 or 4 valve) that uses a bigger bore to bring the 5.0 displacement as opposed to using the stroke alone, we are much, much better off (IMHO).

This leaves the best MOD yet for the buyer; adding the 3.7 stroke to the 3.7 bore after purchase.

There is no doubt in my original one-of-a-kind mind that the MOD motor, either in 3-V or 4-V configuration and 3.7 bore, stoked out with the 3.7 stroke (that Saleen and others obviously uses to date) ultimately displacing about 322 CID will be the beast to be reckoned with for MOPAR and GM .... the Camaro and Challenger simply wont stand much of a chance.

I think Ford is doing pretty good; they seem to also be anticipating what the competition platforms will weigh so they can meet or beat the weight at the same time they (finally) offer another rebel engine. Killing 2 birds with 1 shot ... BRILLIANT !!!

Only thing I fear now is a DEMONIC PRICE TAG ... but I am very, very pleased with this news and equally as optimistic. Savings account gets a regular monthly boost beginning today !!!

but will be 4v

That's fine ... If we get the 3.7 bore and 4-V heads I'll be thrilled enough. If that turns out to be less than what I wanted, then I'll GLADLY do a tear-down and add the 3.7 stroke and won't complain about it one bit. It's the bigger bore that I've always wanted. Like I said ... I'm quite optimistic about all this and I surely hope it turns out to be true.

The unbelief just makes this better. Particularly since Ford's strategy of under-rating pre-production engines continues...the latest example being the 4.4L TDi V8 which appears to be coming in stouter than anyone predicted just like the GT500, 3.5L Duratec V6, and upcoming 3.5L GTDi V6. These guys are going to be floored when they see a Mustang GT on the top of the V8 ponycar heap.

I'd almost rather have them not know about it, would make it funnier.

Both engines better be mod friendly though ( i remember someone mentioning..could be Topnotch) that the 5.0 and 2010 stang would be easier to tune and mod.

Heck even Saleen's 3v 302 supercharged makes 620hp (beefed up engine of course)

Can't wait... but my wallet is going to HATE me

I am still sad that the mustang GT isn't getting a 5.8 hurricane.

Honestly, I dont care what they rate it at. It would be nice if they were very conservative for insurance purposes on so on. I would hope, if this is all true, that it would make at least an honest 400 hp at the flywheel.

No matter how many times we tell them it won't be 3.7" they won't listen.

92.2mm - 3.63"

Get used to it.

If you really want to you can figure out the stroke knowing that the bore is 92.2m

If they are going for the classic 302 cubic inches it would be 92.20mm x 92.70mm = 4.951L, if they are going for a true 5L then it would be 92.20mm x 93.62mm = 5.000L

I remember BlueII saying over at BON that the new 5.0L will have less bore than the 5.0 Cammer but a slightly longer stroke than the Cammer.

new info: Sources say the 5.0 has new cold fusion combustion chambers, so creates more energy then it uses, has 10,000hp and gets 12,000 miles per gallon.
