I don't think it would be wise to use the 5.4 for the GT-500. If the standard GT is as good as FourCam states, it would run **** close the the GT-500. It might be better to TT the 5.0. Should be able to shave off 100 to 200 pounds of weight just with that.

Well, he compared the weight of the 5.0 motored car with an all aluminum engine to the 5.4 GT500 now with it's cast iron block in one post. It is still 2 years away, but I'm gonna guess aluminum block and heads.

2 years still. So the 2010 GT will have a 4.6L 3v and the 2011 will have the 5.0L?

Once again, this engine is speculation and rumours. There are no hard numbers for the Mustang's application of it. But you will see an all-aluminum engine. Anything else is a step backwards.

The GT500 will be more powerful than it is now.
Even IF they still use the same engine, remember the R/D is in it for up to around 600hp

I'm still sticking with the 400hp 5.0 Under 30k Mustang GT

I had thought that the gt500 was projected to get a 15-20 hp boost but that was really it. It would be nice if they could switch the 5.4 over to alum... I could see a 5.0 TT being a possibility for the gt500 but somehow I doubt it. I would put good money though on the idea of a alum 5.0 400hp GT!

I'm not saying it WILL be CGI, I'm just pointing out that CGI rumors persist. And the TT 5L SE/GT-500 rumors would seem to reinforce the CGI possibility since it would be better able to handle forced induction. We know 5L, we know GDI, we're pretty sure on 400 hp, but while AL is likely I don't think we can say AL block for sure just yet.

I don't think we'll see a 5.0 TT in the near future...
I think its totally possible but not for the coming up 2010+

I can't see them not using the 5.4 for the GT500, when all the work is done for it already,
all they have to do is turn up the dial. Just hope they worked on getting the power to the ground.

Well they did kill the Terminator engine after just 2 years of production. Well, except for the drift cars.

Sorta Poetic...

My first Mustang was a 1985 Mustang GT with 210 HP out of a 302 HO topped by the 600 cfm Holley 4V including a racing-style roller lifter camshaft, stainless steel tubular exhaust manifolds and forged 8.4:1 pistons.
Looks like 25 Mustang Years later the 2010 GT will have a 302 with 400HP... sounds like a plan. Tuxedo Black w/ Chamois please!

Would be sweet if it turns out to be true! An IRS option would be nice too.

The last rumors I saw said that it was unlikely we'd see CGI in gasoline engines. The problem is when the castings are made thinner to take advantage of CGI's strength to save weight NVH becomes a problem. Indications are Al blocks for gas engines.

Fourcam has actually been quoting those numbers for several months. The new 5.0L will likely offer both GDI and VVT so 400 hp isn't a huge stretch
