I feel NO tension...
this should pretty much be a no-brainer at this point.

I'll repeat: I WANT A NEW ECU NOW !!!! ( line from Jack Bauer at 03:00hr in season 7)
On a more serious note, would this be why not much can be squeezed out of the new 5.0 with a CAI and tune. Just sayin'.

Huh? Stinger1982's 5.0L is producing 415 rear-wheel horsepower, +37 horsepower over his baseline of 378 on a Livernois custom tune (I'm not sure whether he has a CAI, though). Torque jumped +38, from 361 to 399 rear-wheel torque.

I know about Shaun's car putting out 415hp, but don't know what has been done to his car to achieve such numbers. I was referring to a CAI and tune ala Steeda. Check out 5.0 mods. i'm all over this right now since i have one on the way. Dissapointed to say the least. I'll have my vendor call them tomorrow.

Shaun's jump to 391 RWHP was from break-in ALONE. Livernois tested their two dynos back to back with the same car and got a 1hp difference, so the new baseline number compares to the original.

Thus the boost from 391 to 415 RWHP is all tune, for 24 hp. Shaun didn't have a CAI installed at that time.

Yep, Chris is right. The tune woke up Shaun's car with NO other mods.

This is what leads me to believe that the Steeda CAI is going to benefit most from the tune, not from the intake. The "package" itself is where you'll see the numbers.

I've found that generally work areas can be either spotless or functional. Rarely is it both. It would seem that Livernois is an exception to that, however.

no, the ECU has nothing to do with that.
There is NO reason you, or anyone else on this board needs a new ECU. If the Grand Am Boss 302R1 dont need to rev above 7,500 why the heck do youguys?!?!??!?!?!?!?

My car made 391 BONE STOCK to the tire when broken in.

with a ONLY a tune it made 415 thats a 24hp improvement.

the CAI should go on this week and I am guessing I will see a 10 hp imporvement.
so tuned and CAI = add ~34 hp thats massive!

Besides all of that, you guys will need some head work done before you should even think about going past 7500 RPM. Then you would need some kind of new ECU or piggy back system. you got to pay to play...

Maybe in later years we will see a 5.0 TiVCT with direct injection and lightweight valve train spinning north of 8k RPM. Who knows... I would guess only as a limited production engine. This is just me dreaming however, I am no insider.

I read in some other post that the valves are heavy and the springs are not up to it. I am sure Livernois will share some more info on the heads.

(You have a PM Chrisheltra)

I am the one who said that.

That's valvetrain. I said the heads are good, they flow just fine.
