Cool 5.0 engine teardown at Livernois Motorsports

When I was at Livernois the other day and they were tearing down a new 5.0 to start their devolopment program for aftermarket perf parts.

I asked Rick if he could send me some stuff to share with you guys so here is what he sent me:

We are currently in the process of developing several exciting products for the new 5.0L "Coyote" engine. I thought I would share some photos I took of one of our development engines and heads.

As these items get closer to production, I will post more in depth details.

Soon the heads will be ready to go on our in house CNC machine...

Thanks man!!!

Later

Rick LeBlanc

They have a very nice facility... impressive. I would LOVE to know the stock flow numbers. Can't wait to see what they can do with the new 5.0L.

There's a whole video that explains VCT on the 4 cylinder variant.

Jeez there's so much...stuff...in this engine. It would be interesting to compare it side by side to an original 302, just to show how simple they were before, and how far technology has brought the ICE.

Oh wow! Is there any way you can get me some measurements of width at the headers and widest part of the heads or should I email livernois? I'm quite determined to change my plans from swapping a 347 into miata, to swapping the new 5.0. I've seen a MARK VIII dohc swap, but it required small log manifold on one side. I'm guessing the new motor is slightly narrower, but not much.

Man, I would love to see the flow bench data for the untouched cylinderheads, right off the bat they are said to flow aobut 4% better than the GT500 heads.

Rick@Livernois posted the stock flow numbers on another forum:
He said, "It flowed 311.8 on the intake at .600 lift and 178.8 on the exhaust side at .450 lift."
What do you guys think?

Who cares what it is, the shop is gorgeous inside. Better than the shed of some hillbilly in the trailer park doing home grown mods.
