3.5 V6 Twin Turbo coming to the Mustang
No I didn't mean for it to sound like that at all. I am saying the 4.6 has already been around ince 96 and come 2010 that engine will have had a nice 15 yr run. I am saying if they are going to make it 325hp and 325 ft.-lbs. than its probably not going to be a 3v (just my thought on the 2v). The new boss block will most likly be the block used, I am not all that firmilar with it yet, but it will probably have forged internals to meet the customers wishes.
The 4.6 has been around since like 92... only 96 in the stang...
From what I've read, the current engine (4.6 3v) will be around for the first year in the redesign and then the BOSS will be in the GT (5.8)
It would be nice if they kept the 4.6 or 5.0 (if its a sharing of engines to keep costs down) as a base and have a BOSS option for the GT (not everyone needs 400+hp)
If I remember correctly that the BOSS engines use the same block size.
If there is a 5.0, I'd guess it to be shared among the jag...if they do it at all. Like if the target is 325hp, i'm sure the 4.6 3v can hit that with some tweaking/hardware changes.

If it makes only 25hp more stock but is a more efficent engine that I would be happy to have it.
But I think the GT should get the 5.8 Boss engine. heck the Z28 gets a 6L or possibly a 6.2L.
I think if the 5.8L's offered for full production, the "Mainstream" (non-SE/LE/Shelby) Mustangs should expand from the standard V6 (base) and V8 (GT) to those two plus a new model (GT+) with the 5.8L. As Boomer said, not everyone needs 475 Hp and the cost savings would be a plus. Alternatively, they could Offer the V6 TT in the GT's V8 slot as an option.

I do not see any reason not to give everyone 475hp. No one needs 300 either but theres no drawback to have it on tap.
The present 4.2L Jag V8 is rated @ 300 HP (91 octane). Scaling it up to 5.0L would give 357 HP. Backing it down 5% for 87 octane would give 330 HP, so a 325 HP Mustang version of the new Jag 5.0 sounds believable.
I don't see how cost is an issue. Wether you make a block or heads for a 4.6 or 5.8...there is not any difference in price really. if the Boss engines are more compact then the modular like they should be they will also be less material cost.

And a total waste of time, the competition should have over 400 from their V8's by then..
ford should be able to get 400+ hp w/o a gas guzzler tax. look at what chevy does with the vette/got/cts-v etc. even though the 6.0L from them has more displacement. multi cams and vvt should help offset some of that and keep mpg in check. just seems like the 3.5TT is going to be more costly then a v8 also
