3.5 V6 Twin Turbo coming to the Mustang
3.5 V6 Twin Turbo coming to the Mustang
But what as?
Blue II on BON seems to be a inside source from Ford...he's been posting info on the Hurricane/Boss Engine and the TT 3.5L engine that was in the MKR concept, and how it will be in the MKS, F-150 (yes you heard that right, and gets over 20 MPG city!) and now the Mustang. I wonder what model they are planning to put it into....
Heres some qutoes from the thread:

The Boss has not been cancelled. There are a few bumps in the road but no show stoppers. Powertrain now reports directly Kuszak.
The 5.4 and 6.8 will go away.
On this past Monday Mullaly drove a Twin Force F-150 mule and love it.

Combined RWD/FWD 3.5 TT production will be 350,000/MY. It will be in the F-150, Mustang, and MKS. All four cams are VCT.

definitely would be interesting. probably wont be any weight savings on a v8. with all the plumbing for the turbo will prob weigh even more. wonder what kind of real world power they are looking to get from the motor.
That'd be kickin in a SVT Ranger
I think a Twin Turbo V6 Lightning would be going backwards....
Nice engine, but not in a muscle truck.
Put the GT500 motor in it now,or the 6.2L boss with some FI and call it a day

rear seat delete, that lighter motor, lightweight wheels, cheap base stereo, racing seats and lots of suspension upgrades surely would help with that, and with making it a greater car overall
Seems like a good idea. A start towards (and I really hate to use this term because of all the incoming flaming) 'europeanizing' the Mustang, or at least an edition of the Mustang, so that it will appeal as an option for those looking at cars coming from europe (Audi, BMW, Porsche, etc). Combine the TT with a handling upgrade so it is a road version of the Mustang (as opposed to the muscle car version we all love so much) and it could easily compete with and be a viable option to anything from europe.
I'm not saying the entire lineup should go that way, just that with this type of engine, it allows Ford to compete with those cars without having to convince the prospective buyers to go 'muscle' instead of going 'european'. Looks-wise, the mustang is as good as anything from overseas (perhaps better since it is a unique look as opposed to the look european cars have now with only slight styling cue differences between them) and it is simply a matter of Ford producing a car set up the way the european cars are - smaller higher reving high-tech engines with great handling.
Perhaps a lineup with a base 3.5 V6, 4.6 V8 GT, TT 3.5 V6, and SC 4.6 V8, with the TT and SC versions being either special editions or simple upgrades (perhaps upgrades to the base V6 and GT with special editions based on the upgrades allowing for a Boss or Bullitt edition and perhaps a 'europeanized' special edition, something new to help the Mustang move foreward).

sounds like a very interesting idea...
Return of the (SVT) SVO? A lighter, better-handling, turbo Mustang that could possibly be modded to scare GT-R and 911 drivers sounds good to me!
