The 3.5/Twinforce Mustang EXISTS

And I saw/heard the thing with my own two eyes today.

I was heading to my car after hitting Mongolian BBQ in Dearborn, about 12 seconds from Ford Development, and I see a blue GT with Manufacturer tags parked next to my Explorer. Just so happens that as I get into my car, the Ford engineer driving the Mustang hops into his and starts it, but there's no deep V8 idle, just a blublublublub about an octave higher. I think "V6." He pulls out of the spot, and what do I hear but the dead giveaway of whistling turbos. I wish I woulda caught the guy a second earlier, if only to interrogate him about the car...

Also spotted in and around Dearborn today were a RHD Aussie Falcon, and an 09 F-150 parked on Oakwood, chrome 3 bar grille and all, except it was missing its headlights.

All this and no digital camera. **** me.

Tisk Tisk. Invest in a Cameraphone!

Cool to hear there's at least a Mule for the TT V6 running around, hopefully someone will snap a few pics, now if they'd just announce the **** thing and end the debate.

Falcon's somewhat interesting, though until I hear of a LHD mule I'm less than excited.

Yeah, you need a camera phone, a high quality digicam, and a camcorder mounted in your car to catch things you might miss if you live in an area where things like that show up lol.

what kind if phone is that?

TT V6? that's amazing...
now that I really think about it, i wouldn't mind owning one.
I mean a v8 is great and all, but how many cars come stock twin turbo'd?
sounds way cool to say you have a TT V6.

i wonder if Ford will announce anything soon.

Not many, and there are reasons for that.

Just curious, what are they?
I've heard of possible reliability concerns with turbos, but are there other reasons?

In the past developing, packaging, and producing twin turbo motors has been more expensive than doing so with a comparably powerful V8. That said, the Twinforce may be an exception to those loose historical rules.

For example, the 3000GT VR-4, 300ZX TT, and Supra TT all employed great, powerful, and torquey twin turbo 6s, but the Corvette LT1 of the same generation provided better power and economy for much less $ per unit.

yeah that said a turbo is more expensive to replce in most cases than a v8 block or internals

WHAT?!?! Oh too friggin COOL............

If FORD wants to get their act straight they NEED to start trading technology/platforms with Ford Europe and Ford Australia - specifically FPV (Ford Performance vehicles) in Australia who has some TOTALLY bada** cars

They need to bring that Boss 290 engine to the U.S. market in U.S. vehicles (390 HP N/A)

Not only does the 3.5 Twin Force V6 exist, it is slated to be an optional engine for the F150 according to Igor @ Blue Oval Forums.

What would be better to mod for a street racer? TT v6 or the next generation v8?

without us knowing the details of each engine its impossible to say. But factory forced induction engines always take well to mods due to them always being pretty built on the bottom end.

The good thing about V8's is their longevity. If properly maintained a 5.0, 4.6 or 5.4 will run up to 200k miles.
Your not going to get that longevity out of a TT V6 or SC V6.
