The lastest update from the dealer is the car has passed Winnamucca NV so it is 358 miles from the storage lot. It should be there last Thursday or Early Friday morning.

Goes to show you that being too organized isn't always a good thing.

You'd think that alarms would be going off and my dealership would be raising hell to get my car shipped since it's already paid for. But there just doesn't seem to be anything they can do.
The dealerships are businesses and you're mistaken if you think that most of them care about anything more than the bottom line... PROFIT. They're a business.

I don't think that your situation is that there isn't anything more the dealership CAN do; I think it's more that there's nothing more the dealership is WILLING to do. I just can't imagine why the dealership would require you to pay for the vehicle in full before it is even delivered. That's the biggest red flag I can see. A reputable dealer would not accept anything more than a deposit until the vehicle is delivered.

What happens if there is an accident during transport & your car is damaged. Or if it is built wrong like others here have posted? You're big time screwed bucko! Paying for a vehicle that doesn't exist because it's not in your driveway. I would think that there must be some kind of consumer protection law against this situation. Unless...

Sure. I know. I don't really have a problem with that actually. I just wish the process was better understood and more transparent for consumers. It seems like a win-win for everyone involved.

Well they didn't ask me for anything. I just like having all my stuff in order. In this case, I am ordering from an out of state dealer. I figured it would make them far more comfortable knowing that the car was paid for. There is some risk in them having the car dropped shipped locally and then having me cancel on the deal. They would then be out the $ to have it shipped back to their dealership. So I wanted to be a nice guy and wanted to make them feel better by having the car paid for. Plus it makes my pickup easier. I simply roll into the local dealership and grab the keys. I also had an original ETA of 8/7, so I obviously thought the car would get here sooner than it is.

If the car is damaged, I won't sign the paperwork, I will refuse pickup, and Ford can build me another one. I am not too worried about that I guess. (Granted, I'll still be paying on a loan for a car I don't have. And yes, that would suck. So let's hope that doesn't happen. )

But I just want to clear up that the dealer didn't ask me to pay at all. I offered to do this ahead of the cars' arrival so that I could get everything in order ahead of time.

It’s already in MD waiting on a truck, TheDivaDanielle.

Signing the loan docs before the car has even been delivered? I don't get it.

I'm new to the group and excited that I have a 2013 GT on order.

I received my VIN from the dealer this week and was able to download my window sticker and it looks correct (yeah!!). However, there seems to be some disconnects on dates. My salesman told me the car would be delivered next week. The window sticker has a "blend" number of 120120822. Based on what I've read in this forum that means that it is scheduled to be built on 8/22. Unless delivery after build is much faster than I expect there is no way it will be delivered next week. Anyone have any ideas on this disconnect?

Thanks

Your dealer is not correct. It can take weeks to get a car delivered once it is built. If your car isn't being built until 8/22, then you likely won't see it until mid to end of September.

this is correct two to three weeks is the norm depending on how far you are from Flatrock. Mine was built June 22 and received on July 9th.

Good luck with the car. I ordered my Race Red with over the top stripe on 6/8, it was made 8/7 and God only knows when the dealer in PA will get it. Last ETA was 8/26/12.
