An internal combustion engine of the same liters puts out the same amount of exhaust gases whether its Ford, Audi, or Beemer - regardless of how you doctor what happens between the combustion chamber and the tail pipe (ala 80's air pumps that merely diluted gases to pass the sniffer test).

Further, a 2.0 liter turbo engine that is having additional "atmosphere's" pushed down its throat has actually gained what exactly? In terms of post combustion gases.

Not to mention Europe's high percentage of oil burners. With turbo's. :eyesting: :coughcough:

Someone in your gubmint has been drinking too much algore kool-aid and is being fooled by Euro auto manufacturer tricksters.

PS: how much of that 100k is tariffs, currency differences, Country & local taxes to pay for all those "free" bennies? No offense to you personally or NL. But to blame it on Mustang's alleged CO2 isn't telling the whole story.

Wait a minute. Just wait a minute. Then Euro workers would actually have to start working. Full days, full weeks, year round. Until 65 or 67 or 70.

No government here is going to change this golden eggs tax system, left, right or center. The eco nuts have infiltrated everywhere here.

Even if that were true (which it isn't) it wouldn't matter because the CO2 output value of a car is not measured that way.

Agreed, but make that global auto manufacturer tricksters. Ford is just as guilty of those practices as any other manufacturer on the planet.

That's quite easy: everything between 100.000 and the purchase price of the car in the US. Minus the costs for transport and transport insurance (about 3% of the total). To give you an idea: The import tax is 10% of the purchase price in the US plus the shipping costs. And on that total you pay 19% sales tax (so tax on tax). Then the final and biggest part is the registration tax of which about one quarter is determined by what you payed for the car (tax on tax on tax) and three quarters by the amount of CO2 output. The total of the registration tax on a new 5.0 Mustang basically equals the actual purchase price of the car including import and sales taxes. Currency difference has nothing to do with it, I already recalculated to US$ for your convenience.

I'm not blaming the Mustang's alleged CO2 output because that is undisputed. I'm just explaining that the higher the CO2 output the higher the taxes over here. No matter how much trickery Ford, Audi, BMW or Toyota for that matter applies to lower their emissions big V8 engines will always produce relatively high CO2 amounts and therefore bear our stupid high taxes making them unaffordable. We don't want 2 liter turbo's over here either, we want 5.0's, just as much as you guys do. But our government has made it impossible to own them unless you're Donald Trump. So if Ford wants to sell more than 100 Mustangs per year here a 4 banger turbo is the only way to do it.

My wife is Dutch-American and we vacationed in Holland 2 years ago (stayed with my wife's family in Weesp while we were there). We visited a Mustang acquaintence in Almere (just outside Amsterdam) who owns an SN95 Cobra Convertible, a 2007 Shelby GT500, and a Shelby Terlingua (supercharged V6 Mustang). Those were certainly expensive for him & his wife to import into Holland, but it was his Ford F-150 that really caught my attention. He converted its 5.4L V8 to run on LPG, which isn't taxed nearly as much as gasoline. In fact, when we were there, LPG cost about 1/3 of what gasoline cost. Ford has offered LPG powered vehicles for a few decades (in vehicles such as ambulances & police cars) so it is an interesting proposition for those in Europe who want lower operating costs for thirsty V8's.

On a side note, even though the taxes are high in Holland (we paid 19% sales tax on everything we bought while we were there), the quality of life is very good there and the Dutch are some of the nicest people on Earth.

That must be Patrick He was fortunate enough to buy his Mustangs before they introduced this bizarre CO2 based tax system which basically trippled the registration tax.

True, but that only reduces the fuel costs. You still pay the exact same amount of registration tax which is the real killer. Plus the LPG conversion itself costs around $3000 and the road tax (annual tax for car owners) is almost double. If you do enough miles it can be a bit cheaper though.

Thanks Imagine how nice we would be if we could all drive new Mustangs without those *#^&%^&$% taxes

Yes, Patrick and his wife Astrid. We visited them at their home in Almere when we were in the Netherlands, and they visited my home when they were in the USA a few years ago (they went with us to a very big annual Mustang show with 1400 Mustangs).

It's a shame that it costs so much to import and own big engined musclecars in the Netherlands. Amsterdam has the Red Light District for - well, you know. What the Dutch need now is a Green Light District where you can own/drive any car you want as fast as you want for a reasonable price!

I partially agree. My 2012 GT had a beautiful grille. I had a boss 302 splitter and valence and a saleen grille, I think it was perfect:

I do love the new rear of the 2013's however, being plastic, They will scratch so easy. I saw the 2013's at the LA auto show and it was horrendous. Granted, I will care for my soon to be GT500 far better, I agree with most that a matte black will be more gorgeous.

I may be a bit biased here but I think the new GT500 reat is one of the most gorgeous rears I've seen in a while (on both cars and women hehe)

And, while we're still speaking about the rears, I do NOT like black-out between the taillights. I think the car's true paint color looks so much nicer.

Why does a car need 4 exhaust tips? Looks not very smart. Pretty sure I'd replace with duals.

I think it looks awesome, I like the way they follow the angle of the rear bumper. If you see them from above the middle two stick out farther than the outside two. They angle back with the flow of the bumper.

I wish it had the variable exhaust like the Camaro/Corvette where it opens up with more throttle input.

Because it can. Why have two? When you can have one really big one like a Dodge Cummins.

Not sure, but I figure its a vacuum actuated flap that opens them up, like the cowl induction hoods on the old GM cars. Just a guess though.

The Acura TL Type-S had a similar quad tip exhaust and it looked great, if not too muscular for a FWD V6 sedan...

Exactly! An Acura! I see 4-exhaust tips and it makes me think of something foreign. Has any other Mustangs (besides the overdone GT350 I think) sported 4-exhaust tips? Unless you have 4 pipes running from the motor I see no point in it.

Yes, I've seen Corvettes with 4-exhaust tips and they sounded okay, but I laughed at them for putting the 4-exhaust tips. I love everything about the new GT500 except for these things.

I will check out how they angled them, in person, though. I will give them a chance.

Actually a lot of GTs in the 60s had quad exhaust tips. I don't know if it was a factory thing, but I've seen tons of them at shows, and mostly on cars that were restored - not restomods. Personally, I like the quad tips. Since 2005, the Mustang has been headed into much different competition than before. Now with a 200mph factory car, Ford has to make the car look the part in regards to its competition. I can almost guarantee you there was an S5 in the design booth...

'69 Mach 1 Cobra Jets got the quad tips. Here's a few pics from right here in the photo gallery....
