2012 Boss 302 or 2012 5.0
I think this has been blown out of proportion. I went back and reread the OP's original post and he stayed pretty objective, until the last 2 sentences. I think if he had reread those last 2 and considered how they might sound, he probably would have left them out. Owners are too sensitive about comments regarding their (notice it is "their", not "there") model of Mustang. Especially the Boss crowd. I own a Boss because it is the car I've wanted since 1970 and I finally have more money than sense so I could buy it. (my wife will verify that doesnt mean I have much money) its the Mustang I wanted, but I like them all. I would love to have a GT500, might be one in my future, and a GT would be just fine. I dont take any offense to what anyone says about the Boss, most of it is just schoolyard ribbing and trash talk (you know who you are Al, Joe , and Lee :-) )
Everyone chill out!
And there is no GT forum for the 2010-2014 models

If you are after a comfortable cruiser, get the GT and be done with it, but if you want the (what did another poster call it - the evil Anti-Christ of motor-dom) get the Boss and don't look back.
This whole thing is rather humorous but I went back and copied pieces of KB's original post, verbatim, to remind him what he posted.
the Boss is grossly overpriced.
Im sorry but I just can't see where the value in that is.
the 5.0 is a much smarter purchase
I think 10 grand is so not worth paying for the words 302 boss on the side.

These are different variations of the Mustang for different purposes and consumers. When you evaluate a purchase like this on the "rational side", then one could make the argument that NO Mustang is worth the money for achieving a 0-60 mph blast on the road. Why not buy a motorcycle? In other cases, some people take their Mustangs out only on sunny days. For that money, wouldn't it be better to get the diecast?

The value equation for a GT as compared to a Boss 302 is, in my opinion, a multi-faceted one, with more than 1 or 2 parameters. And I would presume that those considering a purchase of one or the other would be looking at all those things important to them, whether its having heated seats, big brakes, navigation systems, Alcantara-covered steering wheels, etc., etc.
Last thing - you wrote "So my assessment of this is that value on the dollar and performance wise the 5.0 is a much smarter purchase for people who are not professionally racing a Boss on a road corse." The Boss owners who post on this forum are passionate Mustang owners who might not have careers as race car drivers, but no doubts they are enjoying the extra capabilities that the price difference nets because they are enthusiasts just like you.
So enjoy your 2011 car!

I never said the 5.0 was superior to the Boss. I never said any car was superior to any car. I said that value on the dollar the 5.0 may be a better choice of stang for them depending on the owners wants, needs and financial situation. Again I never said the Boss was an inferior car. You and others boss owners completely spun it around in a different direction.
Yes I also think bang for buck, one could get a 5.0, with few upgrades slap a super charger on and you got one sick 5.0 to take Cobra on for 10 grand less.

Anyway, you're offering up advice for consumers and I'm offering up advice for you on "post/topic creation". Hopefully you've learned something, although I suspect that you got the reaction you were attempting to get with your OP.
Enjoy your car.

Everybody thinks the other guys job is easy until they have to do it. Learned that one a long time ago. That's why it's best never to belittle a mans job.
Not that your job or my job is little.

Because productivity is in the company's interest and not the unions interest.

Stating the word overpriced was just my opinion, not fact. That comment is not inflammatory and in no way degrades the awesome'ness of that vehicle. As one person wrote their is a 5% percent difference but 95 % both cars will do the same. That's my point. I don't think for that small difference its worth the heavy price tag over the 5.0. With that, it still doesn't change the boss is an awesome car. If someone doesn't mind paying that price, and it fits there needs for how they use the car, then feel free to spend away.
If someone feels better about their life and helps them feel special because they own the fastest stock production car in the world then have at it hauss. I was just bringing a view point as all people here do throughout the different forums of this site. Just to make small talk and meet other stang lovers.
From my point of view the 5.0 offers many pony enthusiasts the power and performance and be within 95% of the Boss but save 10 grand. 5% more to me is not worth that hefty price but to boss owners it is.
So if a person says they think a car that sells for 200,000 dollars is over priced, does that mean they said the car sucks?
