2011 V6 runs very low 13s consistently

Good reason it sounds wrong.

If the slower car had a much faster reaction time than the faster car the slower car could win but in your example that would be one whole second of difference but your example says the faster car had the better reaction time when it would have to be the other way around.

Oops! You're right, I meant to say that the 14-second car had a faster reaction time. If he had a 0.5 second reaction time and the 13 second car had had a 2 second reaction time, then the 14-second car would get to the finish line 0.5 seconds before the 13 second car, right? Good Car Talk puzzler we've come up with, I think!

If you are going on the Green light and racing someone in a car that runs identical times to yours, that knows what they are doing...you all ready lost.

Your numbers are a little extreme but the math is correct. It is entirely possible for a slower car to win a race because the driver had a better reaction time.
