I imagine the engine will peak at around 360 torque. With a 7k redline the 400HP number becomes plausible.
Those numbers are based on an engine dyno not on the chassis where it's easier to calculate drive train loss. The percentage of drive train loss on an engine dyno is more theoretical since there's no real way to actually calculate it.

I do understand why a lot of people would NOT believe it.
How many times have we seen the past, or caught a whiff of something that could be, that was just shy of expectation or hopes.

In this case however, I (and others) have been saying for the last while.
'this is NOT the old Ford'

Insurance companies won't buy the V6 model with 305HP being in the non-performance category...plan on pretty good insurance hike for the V6 model...Ford would not want to turn away those customers who love the looks, but don't want that kind of performance...

When I was insuring my 02 V6 Mustang...it wasn't very far off pricewise from a 2v 4.6.
Even the Mach1 was the same to insure was the GT.

The only one that jumped high was the Cobra +

There are a LOT of variables when figuring out what insurance costs on a vehicle,
not just the HP #

Exactly. The V6 Mustang and GT's are a dime a dozen. Cheap to insure. The Shelby's and Cobra's are limited run models.

Liability rates have nothing to do with how much it costs to replace the car, and everything to do with who is most likely to do damage to other people with it.

Which for most insurance companies would make the Shelby's and Cobras cheaper to insure, for an adult. The killer demographic on rates for the Mustang are anything that resembles a kid under 25.

Past three cars for me, all bought new:
2004 BMW Z4 3.0i
2006 Scion tC
2008 Mustang GT

Every limit was the same across all three cars.
Scion was the most expensive to insure.
Course I was over 25 for all three cars too, so who can say?

Also the other big factor is where you live. HP on the car is a small factor. The Mustangs are getting better in terms of safety equipment, so it's probably a wash on some calculations.

I traded my 05 V6 in on an 06 GT and my insurance stayed pretty much the same. So that's a non-issue.
